WHEREAS, the above -entitled Administrative Policy regu- lates the painting of lot, business block and house numbers on adjacent street curbs, and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to regulate such activi- ty through the issuance of a license pursuant to the City of Yakima Municipal Code, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Admnistrative Policy number PR 201 - "Painted House Num- bers on Curbs" - is hereby repeAed. ATlES] RE L&BR ,?ef City C erk day of Ma‘ Cwit ,Ze4,ructi Mayor PR 201 ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY Painted Rouse Numbers on Curbs The City Manager's Report #68, dated December 31, 1969, has been reaffirmed through the Traffic Safety Advisory Commission and City Council (on July 24, 1984) regarding requests to paint house numbers on curbs. The Public Works Department will not be responsible for maintenance or obligated to protect the numbers from wear due to street sweeping or snow plowing. The work completed by city clubs or charitable organizations would be performed by permit issued by the City under the following guidelines. 1. The applicant - which must be a city club or charitable organization - must describe the neighborhood in which it intends to perform the service and promise to systematically serve each residence so that, within a the given area, the results would be consistent. 2. Obtain a permit from the City Engineer's Office (no charge). 3. A standard 3" block letter stencil will be used. Letters will be black on a white pre -painted background. A standard sheet is available from City Engineering. 4. Before work begins, the organization must contact the householder advising the following: a. Name of the organization b. Permission of the City to conduct the project c. Intention to paint house number on face of curb without charge, but with an appeal after the work is completed for a donation to their civic or charitable cause. d. Omission of any house where the householder so requests. 5. Permits will be valid for six (6) months from date of issue. Sept. 21, 1984 W2 FF2
