ATTEST: Sonya Claar Tee, City Soneya Lund, Assistant Mayor 1 ITEM TITLE: SUBMITTED BY: BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL YAKIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEM ENT Item No. 6.F. For Meeting of: August 1, 2022 Resolution declaring a John Deere 333G skid steer surplus and authorizing its disposal per Surplus Disposal Policy 3-100 Scott Schafer, Public Works Director Kerry Jones, Fleet & Facilities Manager - (509) 576-6412 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The City of Yakima (City) owns a 2018 John Deere 333G Skid Steer with implements that has become a surplus to the needs of the City's Street Division. Staff is recommending trading the Skid Steer in to Pape' Machinery to be used towards the purchase of a Trail King Low Boy Trailer, which would be procured under the Sourcewell contract #121918-TKI . Trade-ins are specifically allowed under the Sourcewell contract. The trade-in value of the Skid Steer is $73,400 and the cost of the Low Boy Trailer is $108,597.05. With the trade-in, the City would owe $38,012.81 for the purchase of the trailer. The Low Boy Trailer would significantly improve the overall safety of both loading and unloading the City's asphalt grinder. In addition, the trailer would allow the Street Division to operate more efficiently by having the capability of hauling both the asphalt grinder and the roller simultaneously to worksites for grind & overlay projects. It is required that the City Council first declare the Skid Steer surplus to the needs of the City prior to trading it in to Pape' Machinery.
