HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-27-2022 HPC Minutes CITY OF YAKIMA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION(HPC) ____________________________________________________________________________ Minutes for Meeting on July27, 2022 Council Chambers, City Hall ___________________________________________________________________________ I.Call to Order Acting Chair Kingcalled the meeting to order at approximately5:30P.M. II.Roll Call HPC Members Present: Dawn King, Joe Mann, Paul Edmondson HPC Members Absent: Clayton Bussey, Cynthia Hall Quorum: Quorumpresent Staff: Albert Miller, Assistant Planner III.Staff Announcements Albert Miller gave an updateon the Fruit Row nomination, which is proceeding smoothly There was also an update on the CLG grant for Nache Ave., which seeks to consolidate the completed surveys of N. and S. Naches and begin development of design standards for a proposed historic overlay district. IV.Audience Participation Ken Johnsen gave a presentation on the Yakima Valley Trolley and their efforts to have the trolley system designated as a National Historic Landmark. Special attention was given to the trolley bridge over the Naches River. This is a location that is currently being proposed as a pedestrian bridge, a move that may jeopardize the NHL nomination. A motion was made to write a letter of support for maintaining the historical integrity of the bridge, and the motion passedunanimously. historical property in Yakima for the proposed use of an English tea house. 1 "µ³³¯¹¹¯µ´Ɏ,«³¨«¸¹ "²§¿ºµ´Ɏ!»¹¹«¿ V.New Business There was discussion of future projects. Some suggestions were the next steps for the Fruit Row and Naches Ave., current projects, as well as a suggestion to organize a dinner or gala for HPC award recipients for the last few years. Another suggestion was for working on a map of historic properties of Yakima, so that the public had a better idea of what districts and structures in Yakima had historical recognition. VI.Other Business VII.Adjournment A motion to adjourn to June 22,2022was passed with unanimous vote.
