The Honorable Micah Cawley
Mayor of the City of Yakima
129 N 2"d Street
Yakima, WA 98901
Re: Public Works Trust Fund Loan #PC08-951-052
Dear Mayor Cawley:
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the successful completion of your Railroad
Grade Separations -Lincoln Avenue/Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Project, funded by the Public Works Trust Fund.
2008 Project Description: This project constructs two underpasses, one each for
Lincoln Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. from 1st Ave. to 1st St. The
underpasses will reconstruct three lanes on each roadway under the BNSF railroad
mainline. New railroad bridges will be constructed wide enough to accommodate an
additional rail, a requirement from BNSF.
Thank you for your dedication to supporting our agency's mission to "grow and improve jobs in
Washington State by championing thriving communities, a prosperous economy and
sustainable infrastructure," as well as the Public Works Board's mission to "provide financial
and technical assistance to Washington communities for critical public health, safety, and
environmental infrastructure that supports community and economic vitality."
Dedicated local governments, such as yours, make Washington a great place to live, work and do business.
Please accept our best wishes for your continued success in the years ahead.
Sincerely,
Brian Bonlender
Director
Stan Finkelstein
Chair, Washington State Public Works Board
