CITY TREASURER DAH:dh - • It was MOVED by Robinson, seconded by McNeice that the report of the.City Treasurer dated June 30, 1970, regarding. the investments of the City of Yakima, be accepted and approved: carried, Brown, Keith, Lambert, Larson, Lust, McNeice andRobinson voting aye by voice vote City Manager McMicken explained that because of the City assuming the responsibility for the Park system, in order_to allow the permanent employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation to come under previously approved Code requirements on longevity pay, it will be necessary for authorization to be given, to credit these employees for former employ- ment by the Metropolitan Park District, and recommended that this authorization be given. After due discussion, -it was MOVED by Keith, seconded by Lust that Resolution No. D -1511 authorizing said credit for former employment by the Metropolitan Park. District, for certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Keith, Lambert, Larson, Lust, McNeice andRobinson voting aye on roll call. II RESOLUTION NO. D -1511, A RESOLUTION authorizing credit to certain employees of the Depart- ment of Parks andRecreation for former employment by the Metropolitan Park District of Yakima for purposes of applying Chapter 2.24, Longevity Plan, of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. . City Manager McMicken reporting that grants have been offered to -the City to aid in con- structing an interceptor sewer, by the United States Department of the Interior, Federal Water Pollution Control Administration in the amount of $29,090, which includes the 3% - planning bonus for conformance to regional planning criteria, and from the State of - a.h- ington Department of Ecology, in the amount of $13,220, as a result of previous applicatioi for these funds, and recommending that these grant.offers be accepted, it was MOVED by Lust, seconded by McNeice that Resolution No. D- 1512 the acceptance of said grant offers, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Keith, Lambert, Larson, Lust, McNeice and Robinson voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. D -1512, A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the. City Manager of the City of Yakima to accept grant offers from the United States Department of the Interior, Federal Water Pollution Control Administration, and from the State of Washingb n Depart ment of Ecology, for constructing an interceptor sewer. City-Manager McMicken stating that Mr. Thomas F. Peterson in the amount of'$.57.48, for damages resulting from basement flooding, itwas MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Keith that Resolution No. D -1514 authorizing the •payment . of said for:damages, be passed as read: carried,`Brown, Keith, Lambert, Larson,' Lust, McNeice and Robinson voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. D- 1514, A RESOLUTION authorizing payment o,f,a• claim for.damages filed against the City of Yakima by Howard H.'Peterson. . City Manager McMicken referring to a memo from the Planning Department concerning a • request , for 'an Outside water hookup by-Frank Hagel for property located at the northwest intersection .of.Cornell,Avenue,' and.the Planning Department recommending that this request be granted, it was •MOVED by Keith, seconded by Lust that said outside utility service be allowed:. carried,. Robinson. voting aye by- :voice vote. -- . .. _ City Manager McMicken referred the matter of . the Study of Solid Waste Collection Disposal . and rates to the Director of Finance Leonard Crose. Mr; Crose stated that the revenue 'which was accumulated.. in this fund has been depietedand there. have been no additional . funds made available. He indicated that the efficiency•of the Department.would have to increase or the amount charged for the services would have to be increased. Mr. Crose reported that the funds for this • department' have'deleted . so. much that the bills are not being paid, and that within the last seven. months there have been =two appropriations to this department. He further reported that the balance is $25,000'in" the red at the'pre- sent time and projecting into the future, stated that this could increase•.to as: much as $50,000 'before the end of the year. Public Works Director'John Mayo stated that the .current charge is $.25 per can which is less than any other such business in'the State and that the last time the rates were raised was in 1961. He reported that he will be meeting with Dale Samuelson, Garbage Superintendent and City Manager McMicken this week regarding this matter and a.report will be prepared for the next City Council meeting, .., July 20, 1970. No formal. action. -was taken at:' meeting. . . A movie on.
