For Meeting of: June 7, 2022 ITEM TITLE: Resolution rescinding Resolution R-2021-080 SUBMITTED BY: Sara Watkins, City Attorney SUMMARY EXPLANATION: At the Council's May 17, 2022, City Council meeting, the members of Council voted unanimously to rescind Resolution R-2021-080:A resolution supporting the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and committing the City of Yakima to take a SAFE Cities climate change stand. This resolution formalizes the motion and effectuates the rescission of the resolution. R-2022- A RESOLUTION rescinding Resolution R-2021-080. WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted Resolution 2021-080; and WHEREAS, the City Council unanimously voted in favor of a motion to rescind Resolution R-2021-080 at its May 17, 2022, City Council meeting; and WHEREAS, the City Council deemed it appropriate to rescind such resolution in part due to the fact that the Council has approved a committee to evaluate sustainability practices and opportunities in the City of Yakima; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima finds that it is in the best interest of the City and its residents to rescind R-2021-080; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: 1. The Motion and vote in favor to rescind Resolution 2021-080 taken at the May 17, 2022 City Council meeting is hereby ratified. 2. Resolution R-2021-080: A resolution of the City Council of the City of Yakima, Washington, supporting the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and committing the City of Yakima to take a SAFE Cities climate change stand, is hereby RESCINDED in full and is no longer in any force or effect.
