i+VEfAS, June 19, 2022 is the 113th anniversary of the founding and organization
of the Warcissa `Whitman Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American
*volution (VSDAV that honors the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved
American independence, and promotes education, historic preservation,patriotism and
Americanism; and
WRIEcREAS, the Warcissa `Whitman Chapter, SISDAR was foundedin June 1909 fed
by Organizing Regent Susan WI. Lombard with a charter membership of 21 to complete this
important service workon the focaffevef,• and
'W7 EcREAS, seventy two Warcissa `Whitman members continue this fine tradition along
with the more than one million women who have served in this energetic service organization's
mission to,promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism and Americanism; and
'WIFE1cjEAS, Warcissa `Whitman daughters volunteer about 3,000 hours of Service to
American in `Yakima County communities each year, to benefit focatveterans, students, active
military personnel, and
WMXEREAS, as the Warcissa `Whitman Chapter, SISDA&members are celebrating their
founding, it is fitting andproper to accord officialrecognition to this vital organization and its
113th anniversary.
NOW, T ERSEcFO9 E, I, Janice Deccio, SYLayor of the City of`Yakima and on behalf of
the `Yakima City Council- do hereby proclaim June 19, 2022 as
"WVarcissa Whitman Chapter, XSDAc7 (Day"
in the City of`Yakima in recognition of this vital organization and to celebrate 113 years of
service to America and`Yakima.
