Zoom Online Meeting
3:30 p.m.
Minutes
David Lynx convened the meeting.
In attendance: Heath Lambe, Randy Bonds Jr., Teresa Pritchard, David Rogers, Valerie
Woerner, Soneya Lund
Guests: Charlie Robin, Ed Marquand (Millennium Foundation), Jane Cooper (Windows
Alive!), Ken Wilkinson (Yakima Parks & Rec)
The Minutes from the June 16, 2020 meeting were accepted.
Budget: David Lynx presented a report, so far in 2021 $4720.12 has been spent. With
the fall Windows Alive! showing and some other expenses, it is estimated that at the end
of 2021, $20 will be left. Additionally, it was agreed to change the Windows Alive!
coordinator pay to $1900 from $1700.
Miller Park Mosaic Project: Ken Wilkinson, Parks and Recreation director, began by
letting the commission know he received grant for improvements. Ed Marquand with the
Millennium Foundation then continued to present on a project called the Miller Park
Radiance Project. The project would create 6 mosaic "selfie stations" along new trail.
Possibility of having community involvement in assembly of project pieces. A mosaic
"wings wall" on would be created on bathroom building. Mosaic "welcome mats" at
entrances to park (bilingual) using porcelain tiles meant for sidewalk application. Final
component, add frieze to sides of Rotary picnic pavilion.
Windows Alive: 15 folks applied for the fall show, with so many artists, it allowed to plan
for both Fall and Spring shows.
Utility Box Wrap Project: We have art ready for a new box. The box on North 1st Street
and H street will need to be moved as construction in the area will remove it. David Lynx
mentioned a meeting with Public Works about funding, and the Arts Commission will
continue to fund materials while Public Works will fund installation and labor. It was
estimated the $1300 we have spent on supplies provides for 8 wraps.
Washington State Creative District: David created a website for the project. Heath
would like an "form letter" created on the site to email council about WSCD. Did
community outreaches at Collab and Larson Gallery about WSCD. Heath met with Joan
Davenport with the City. They will continue to work on the workbook and have it for us to
review soon.
