The Minutes from the September 19, 2019 meeting were reviewed. The minutes were
unanimously voted to be accepted.
Budget: Randy Bonds Jr. presented a report from the City Finance department on the
current expenditures in the Arts Commission budget. There is $2,717 remaining in the
budget. The Maker's Space funds were not included in this number. Randy will review
with the City Finance department and email a final number to the Arts Commission. The
final left over money was suggested to be used for Windows Alive.
Windows Alive: Sold 1 painting, with the proceeds put in the Windows Alive account. We
have 4 already for Spring and will need 2 more artists. The Wilson building will be used
for the Women's Suffrage display that was suggested by Cheryl Hahn at the previous
meeting. That building presents some challenges as there is not power.
Utility Box Wrap Project: David Lynx informed the commission of two newly completed
boxes. The first is in front of the Mission and the artist involved is Susan Hahn. The
second was at Lincoln and 16t" Avenue. The artist involved there was Cheryl Pickering.
David will add plaques to all of the boxes like had been discussed in previous meetings.
Painted Piano: Nathaniel Hull presented an update to the commission that the pianos had
all been donated. They have artists have been selected and they now need suggestions
on locations. The first will be installed at the Valley Mall and a ribbon cutting will be help
Friday, November 22, 2019 at 2pm, the commission has been invited to attend. Randy
Bonds Jr. mentioned that as the locations grow, he can create a web map so the public
can locate the pianos in the community.
Washington State Creative District: Heath spoke about the community working on
developing a non-profit to complete this. He'll also be sending the Council letters asking
for their support.
Noel requested to be put on the agenda of the first council meeting of the new year.
