SPECIAL MEETING - SEPTEMBER 6, 1988
JOINT LUNCHEON WITH AIR TERMINAL BOARD MEMBERS

1. ROLL CALL -•`
•
The City Council met in session on this date ' at 11:30 A.M. in the
'Restaurant Banquet' Room at the Air. Terminal, Yakima,, Washington.
• Mayor Pat,Berndt;'presiding, Council members Henry Beauchamp, Lynn .
Buchanan, and, Bernard Sims present on "roll call. Council
members Clarence Barnett; Lynn Carmichael" and Jerry Foy absent and
excused. Yakima County Commissioners; present Were:Chuck Klarich,
• Jim Whiteside and Graham Tollefson.• Representatives from Union .
II Gap were Paul Burlingame and Ron Krebbs. Air Terminal Board
members present were Bill Almon, Bob Clem, Don 'Hakala'and Don
Heinen. City staff members present ,were City Manager -Zais,
Assistant City Manager Stouder, and Con Skone, Planning Manager.
Airport staff members present were Gary Robbins, Jerry Kilpatrick
and Ann. Park. Also present were Rod Knipper, Kevin Kelly and Ed
Just from the architect firm, .Bill Huibregtse, engineer, and
• Tim McGree from Yakima County 'Development Association. . .

COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO :DISCUSS PROGRESS UPDATE OF TERMINAL
. BUILDING STUDY . ' '
• Don Heinen opened the presentation with a-'few comments about the
Airport including figures showing a 300% growth in the last 20
years and that the FAA is offering a higher percent of pay back on
. a project like a new terminal at this time.
Rod Knipper introduced Ed Just and asked that those present please
' consider, all the ,informat'ion presented and give some direction to
the Airport.
Ed Just presented the cost of construction figures on the 3
alternatives." Plan - A -is 'at' million for a remodel of the
existing terminal. Plan Bl is at $7 million' which'includes access
. road expansion 'and 'taxiway work. Plan C is 'at $14.3 'million and
would relocate the terminal on the south side with road, utilities
' and taxiway work.
Rod Knipper clarified the B1 and C'concepts and their benefits.
Bill Almon asked that the City and County please get back to the
Board with a recommendaton so they would know if funding could be
• • \ found.
