Continuation of discussion from April 17th, 2015 Partnerships Committee meeting concerning
Drainage Improvement Districts #29, #38, #39, #40, #41, and #48.
City Manager O'Rourke informed the County representatives that the City had done some initial
assessment of the DIDs that the County had proposed transferring to the City. The City is
continuing to evaluate the potential for assuming management responsibility for the DIDs.
Commissioner Leita indicated that Yakima County had planned on dissolving the DIDs as soon as
early June, but would delay such action if the City were to provide the County will a counter to the
County's proposal to transfer management responsibility for the DIDs to the City. City Manager
O'Rourke committed to providing a counter proposal to the County by mid-June.
Potential appointment of Council members and/or staff to Association of Washington Cities
Large City Advisory Committee and Operation Strong Cities Advisory Committee
Communications & Public Affairs Director Beehler informed the committee that the Association of
Washington Cities ("AWC") has asked for City participation on two new standing AWC committees —
the Large City Advisory Committee and the Operation Strong Cities Committee. Beehler said he
would attend the initial meetings of the two AWC committees during the week of May 25-29, but that
the AWC would like permanent appointments to be made as soon as possible.
It was decided that the full City Council would consider permanent appointments to the two AWC
committees at its June 2nd business meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 am.
