For Meeting of:April 19, 2022 ITEM TITLE: Appointments to the Planning and Tourist Promotion Area Commissions SUBMITTED BY: Sonya Claar Tee, City Clerk SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Council Nominating Committee met on April 13 & 14, 2022 to interview eight applicants for the Planning Commission and review an application for the Tourist Promotion Area Commission. The Nominating Committee recommends the following appointments: • Colleda Monick to the Planning Commission • Lonna Wise to the Tourist Promotion Area Commission ITEM BUDGETED: STRATEGIC PRIORITY: APPROVED FOR SUBMITTAL BY THE CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDATION: ATTACHMENTS: Description Upload Date Type D minutes 4/14/2022 Corer Memo 2 COUNCIL NOMINATING COMMITTEE MINUTES Council Members Cousens, Byers & Brown City Manager's Conference Room April 13 and 14, 2022 @ 2:30 p.m. Meeting convened at 2:30 p.m. 1. New business • The Committee interviewed the following applicants for the Planning Commission: • Colleda Monick • Natalie McClendon • Frieda Stephens • Wyatt Marchand • Cousens noted Mr. Marchand had also expressed an interest in the Parks & Recreation Commission; however, Mr. Marchand stated he prefers to be on the Planning Commission. • The Committee reviewed an application from Lonna Wise for the Tourist Promotion Area as nominated by the Yakima Valley Lodging Association. MOTION: Cousens moved and Byers seconded to recommend appointing Lonna Wise to the Tourist Promotion Area Committee. The motion carried by unanimous vote. • On Thursday, April 14, 2022, the Committee interviewed the following applicants for the Planning Commission: • Charles Hitchcock • Robert Hernandez • Ann Knapp via Zoom • Isabel Garcia • After discussion on the applicants, MOTION: Byers moved and Brown seconded to recommend Colleda Monick be appointed to the Planning Commission.
