WIFEREAS, an estimated 38,230 Washington residents are diagnosed with
cancer each year and 12,550 wilTnot survive; and
'4 IEREAS, the City of (Yakima is joining over 5,200 other communities
worldwide to host the American Cancer Society's Refay for £ife, an event to
cerebrate cancer survivors and remember those who are no Conger with us; and
WIFEREAS, Refay for Life raises funds to help the American Cancer
Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay
well, get well, find cures, and fight back
NOW crifEREEORE, I Micah Cawley, Mayor of (Yakima and on behalf of
the (Yakima City Councifdo hereby proclaim the second weekof May as
"Da AWIERICAV CAwCEIRSOCIETYS
MIX -TT -OE MOWN 1 RPE WEEK"
and the officiaf kickoff of Refay to Life in the City of (Yakima. In doing so, I urge
citizens to cerebrate cancer survivorship, remember roved ones Cost to the disease,
honor caregivers and join (Yakima's fight against cancer. Only together will we
find a cure.
