wiltEREfts, emergencies can occur at any time that require Caw enforcement, fire or
emergency mecficafservices; and
PJFEREAS, when an emergency occurs it is the prompt response of Caw enforcement
officers, firefighters, and emergency medical service providers that is critical to the protection of
fife and preservation of property; and
P1FEREAS, the safety of our Caw enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency
mecficafservice providers is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained
from citizens who telephone the Yakima County's E911 Communications Center, known as
SunComm; and
PJFEREAS, emergency call -takers and dispatchers are the first and most critical
contact our citizens have with emergency services; and
PJFEREAS, emergency calf -takers and dispatchers are the single vital Cink for our Caw
enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medicafservice providers 6y monitoring their
activities by radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety; and
P1FEREAS, emergency calf -takers and dispatchers of SunComm have contributed
substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients;
and
PJFEREAS, each emergency cal --taker and dispatcher has exhibited compassion,
understanding, professionalism, and displayed untiring efforts during their assigned shs in
the past year,
NOW ` iPERETORE, 1, U'ticah Cawley, Mayor of the City of Yakima and on behalf of
the City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekofApri(12-18, 2015 as
'NATIONAL IEEE COJVLJVLVWICATOR S WEEK"
in the City of Yakima, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep
our City and citizens safe.
