S UM M ARY E X P L ANAT I O N:
A t the Council’s March 8, 2022 study session, the Council moved forward the map entitled
Option 2 to be the draft redistricting plan of the City of Yakima. R C W 29A.76.010 requires that
the draft plan be published and a public meeting be held where the public may comment within
ten days of publication. A pproval of this item will set the date for the public meeting to April 5,
2022, during the City Council meeting on that day. T he public will be invited to comment and
provide feedback on the draft plan at the meeting, or to send written comments to the City.
P ursuant to the statute, the notice of the meeting, as well as the draft redistricting plan (which
constitutes a map of Option 2, and the data from the census as well as the C VA P and L C VA P
data), shall be published on or after March 28, 2022, so that the meeting is held within ten days of
the date the notice is published.
