BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
AGENDA STATEMENT
Item No. 4.
For Meeting of: March 8, 2022
ITEM TITLE: Review of City Council Redistricting
SUBMITTED BY: Bob Harrison, City Manager
Sara Watkins, City Attorney
Tom Sellsted, Supervising Senior Analyst
Joan Davenport, Community Development Director
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima City Council District boundaries are required to be reviewed after each Decennial
Census data release. Redistricting data was published by the U.S. Census Bureau in late
September, 2020. City staff have evaluated the existing city council boundaries with the new
population data. It is recommended that the City Council consider some adjustments to the
boundaries because of the imbalance of population between the existing districts.
