EAS, the `Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA)was
formed as the `Washington.ICgh School Athktic Association in 1905 and became the `WIAA on
July 1, 1958; and
WWEREAS, the `WIAA exists to assist memberschoo&& in operating student programs
thatfoster achievement, respect, equity, enthusiasm ande.xceffence in a safe and organized
environment; and
SEAS, the `WIAA oversees athletics andfine arts in `Washington state and
hosts 120`WIAA state championship events each and every schoolyear; and
SEAS, the `WIAA began holding State cBasket6allChampionships in 1923; and
WJPEREAS, the `WIAA will be homing two 2022 State cBasket6allChampionships in
the (Yakima `valley SunDome; the 1A and 2A Boys and girls State Championships from SYtarch
2-5; and
`W/IEcREAS, the `WIAA addedDance andDri11as a sanctioned activity in 1990 and
willbe homing their 2022 State Dance andDrillChampionships in the (Yakima `valley
SunDome on SYtarch 25 and 26; and
W PEREAS, the `WIAA annually stages the largest andmost valuable sports
tournaments in the (Yakima `valley;
