Temporary signs are primarily regulated by provisions of the zoning ordinance in the Yakima Municipal Code (YMC 15.08.110). The City Council intent expressed at the Study Session on August 5, 2014 was for the Planning Commission to conduct a limited review of the sign code with particular emphasis on clarifying issues related to temporary signs and exempt signs. These issues require thoughtful public review, in which the Planning Commission is currently engaged. To resolve some citizen concerns about temporary signs the Council could consider directing the Planning Commission to consider the following: • Eliminate the time restrictions on the number of days a Temporary Sign may be displayed (YMC 15.08.110, Part 1) — as 30 continuous days / 90 days maximum per year.
