(WRIEREAS, the Constitution of the `United States of America, the
guardian of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a
Republic dedicated to rule by law; and
W EREAS, it is a privilege and duty of the American people to
commemorate the two hundred twenty-seventh anniversary of the drafting of the
Constitution of the vnitedStates of America with appropriate ceremonies and
activities; and
WEREAS, public law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each
year by the President of the vnitedStates ofAmerica designating September 17
through 23 as Constitution Week.
NOW TRIEREEORE, I, Micah Cawley, Mayor of the City of (Yakima and
on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the weekof September 17 through
23, 2014 as
TOWSTITVTIONWEEK"
and urge all citizens to study the Constitution, and reflect on the privilege of being
an American with all the rights and responsibilities which that privilege involves.
