during the month of February to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black/?mericans in every
area of endeavor throughout our pistol ; and
SEAS, these accomplishments are the more remarka6le for having Seen won at the cost of great
struggle and sacrifice 6y men and women who came to these shores in chains, and 6y their descendants; and
WXEnA,S, the African American community continues to contribute to the rich diversity and
general welfare of Yakima and
` WSE VI&, during Slack history month we celebrate the many achievements and contributions
made by AfricanAmericans to our economic, cultural;spiritual;and political development; and
WXEREA S, the City of Yakima continues to work toward Becoming an inclusive community in
which all citizens—past, present, and future — have similar opportunities for growth and are respected and
recognized for their past contributions and potential future contributions to our community, the state, the
country, and the world and

Americans in our community, throughout our state, and nation
