RE: 2014 Yakima Hot Shots 3 -On -3 Basketball Tourney Recap
Below please find a recap of the 2014 Yakima Hot Shots 3 -On -3 Basketball Tourney, held on the
streets of downtown Yakima on August 23 -24:
TEAMS
Hot Shots had 463 teams this year, the second -most in tourney history. It was the fourth straight year
the tourney had more than 444 teams.
PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS
This year's Hot Shots Tourney had 1,852 participants, the second - highest total ever. For the third
consecutive year, over 1,800 people participated in Hot Shots. We estimate in total there were
11,000 participants, spectators, volunteers and visitors.
COURTS
Forty -one courts were utilized this year, hosting 42 divisions. The total was up from 40 courts a year
ago.
EXPANSION
The expansion to South Third Street (in front of the Capitol Theatre) allowed Hot Shots to increase
the amount of space between courts and move out of small, cramped parking lots. This move made
for a safer, more comfortable event.
