Cook, Director of Community Economic Development CONTACT PERSON / TELEPHONE: Bruce Benson, Supervising Planner, 575 -6042 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: Recent changes to the assessed property values in the vicinity of Yakima's Washington Heights Annexation now permit for its expansion to include several additional requests for annexation from adjoining property owners. Reconfiguation will expand the annexation area to approximately 118 acres. In addition, this enlarged annexation will "close the gap" previously existing between the northern edge of this annexation and Zier Road. This gap was cited by Yakima County as cause for their requesting that the Boundary Review Board conduct a public hearing for the purpose of denying this owner requested annexation. The procedure for this amendment involves rescinding the initial annexation petition in favor of a new petition for an expanded Washington Heights Annexation. At this time City Council is being asked to act upon these additional property owner requests by approving a motion withdrawing annexation petition No. 09 -02 followed by approval of the City's standard annexation motions A & B, for an expanded Washington Heights Annexation.
