ITEM TITLE: Council Nominating Committee Recommendation of
Appointments to Boards and Committees

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Council Nominating Committee (Macias and Lund) met on November 8, 2021, to review
applications for boards and committees. The Committee unanimously recommends the following
appointments:
• Appoint Juan Alvarado to the Yakima Housing Authority
• Reappoint John Cooper, Sara Davila and Anne Moneymaker to the Lodging Tax Advisory
Committee
• Reappoint Jennifer Gindt to the Bicycle/Pedestrian Committee
• Reappoint Louisa Beckstrand to the Charter Civil Service Commission
• Appoint Clayton Bussey to the Historic Preservation Commission
• Reappoint Sara Davila and Sarah Purdy and appoint Jerens Frank to the Hotel/Motel —
Tourist Promotion Area (TPA)

Meeting convened at 11:05 a.m.
Council present: Macias and Lund
Absent: Cousens
Staff present: City Clerk Clear Tee
1. New business
• The Committee reviewed an application for the Yakima Housing Authority
Board (YHA). Yakima Housing Authority Director Lowe! Krueger noted
the YHA has reached out to several people for recruiting while keeping in
mind diversity, equity and inclusion. After discussion, Lund moved and
Macias seconded to appoint Juan Alvarado to the Yakima Housing
Authority. The motion carried by unanimous vote, Cousens absent.
• The Committee reviewed board and committee applications and made
the following recommendations by unanimous vote, Cousens absent:
• Lund moved and Macias seconded to reappoint John Cooper, Sara
Davila and Anne Moneymaker to the Lodging Tax Advisory
Committee
• Macias moved and Lund seconded to reappoint Jennifer Gindt to
the Bicycle/Pedestrian Committee
• Lund moved and Macias seconded to reappoint Louisa Beckstrand
to the Charter Civil Service Commission
• Macias moved and Lund seconded to appoint Clayton Bussey to
