R- 2014 -041 A RESOLUTION ratifying the declaration of an emergency and authorizing the City Manager to execute all applicable contracts for the repair /refurbishment of the electrical service panel and branch circuits associated with the office electrical panel at Lions Pool WHEREAS, Article VI, section 6 of the City of Yakima Charter and the Yakima Municipal Code Chapter 1 8i0 provide that the City Council may declare an emergency dispensing with the necessity for bidding for services, material, equipment and supplies costing more than $25,000; and WHEREAS, the electrical system at Lions Pool was determined by an electrical engineer to be dangerous and in need of immediate repair; and WHEREAS, City of Yakima is responsible for the safety of the patrons swimming at Lions Pool; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City to declare an emergency and to ratify the City Manager's execution of all necessary documents to engage professional contractors to repair /refurbish the electrical service panel and branch circuits associated with the office electrical panel at Lions Pool, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: An emergency is hereby declared and the City Council hereby ratifies the City Manager's authority to execute all necessary documents to engage professional contractors to repair /refurbish the electrical service panel and branch circuits associated with the office electrical panel at Lions Pool without calling for competitive bids. The City of Yakima is responsible for the safety ofthe patrons swimming at Lions Pool. Professional contractors will need to repair /refurbish the electrical service panel and branch circuits associated with the office electrical panel at Lions Pool without Parks and Recreation having to call for competitive bids. Since the electrical system was damaged due to a fire, Risk Managment Funds will be utilized. Approximate cost is $60,000 plus tax. Exhibit "A" and "B" are cost quotes from Knobel's Electric, Inc.
