YAKIMA CITY COUNCIL
ADJOURNED MEETING
DECEMBER 29, 2008 — 10:00 A.M. — 11:30 A.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS — YAKIMA CITY HALL
1. Roll Call
Present:
Council: Mayor Dave Edler, presiding, Assistant Mayor Micah
Cawley, Council Members Kathy Coffey, Rick Ensey, Bill
Lover and Neil McClure
Staff: , Deputy City Clerk Watkins
Absent: Council Member Norm Johnson (excused)
2. Council Candidate Interviews (continued)
Each candidate was asked the following questions:
Council Member McClure: "What action has the City taken recently that you
thought was successful ?"
Council Member Ensey: "What role should City government play in citizens'
lives ?"
Assistant Mayor Cawley: "What are one or two issues the City Council should
focus on next year ?"
Mayor Edler: "How would you be a leader ?"
Council Member Coffey: "What has been your most successful accomplishment
and why? What has been your least successful accomplishment ?"
Council Member Lover: "What would you suggest to assist current and attract
new businesses ?"
The interviews were held in the following order:
10:00 a.m. Cec Vogt
10:15 a.m. Greg Bohn
10:30 a.m. Dave Ettl
10:45 a.m. Maureen Adkison
11:00 a.m. Sonia Rodriguez
11:15 a.m. Cesar Dominguez
Following the interviews, Council adjourned to Executive Session at 11:34 a.m.
for approximately thirty minutes to discuss the qualifications of the six finalists.
At 12:17 p.m. Mayor Edler reconvened the meeting and CAWLEY MOVED
AND McCLURE SECONDED TO CONTINUE IN EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR
UP TO ONE MORE HOUR. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote;
Johnson absent.

The Council reconvened in open session at 12:35 p.m. Mayor Edler opened
the floor for nominations. McCLURE MOVED AND COFFEY SECONDED TO
NO MINATE SONIA RODRIGUEZ. ENSEY MOVED AND LOVER
SECONDED TO NOMINATE MAUREEN ADKISON. Mayor Edler
acknowledged there were two candidates nominated and polled the Council
members. McClure, Cawley, Edler and Coffey voted for Sonia Rodriguez while
Ensey and Lover voted for Maureen Adkison. Mayor Edler announced that the
next sitting member on the Council will be Sonia Rodriquez by a 4 -2 vote. She

will be sworn in at the January 6, 2009 Business meeting.
3. Adjournment
CAWLEY MOVED AND McCLURE SECONDED TO ADJOURN. The motion
carried by unanimous voice vote; Johnson absent. The meeting adjourned at •
12:44 p.m.
