ITEM TITLE: Resolution authorizing the City Manager to grant a 1% base
pay increase and $500 lump sum for all non -represented City
employees for 2014.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
After due consideration, the City Manager has determined that it is in the best interest of the
City to authorize a 1% base pay increase and a one time lump sum payment of $500 to the 70
non -represented employees. Finance and Human Resources researched 15 like cites in
Washington State and most cities claimed a wage increase of 1% to 1.5% in 2013. The lump
sum will be paid to all non -represented employees who are in a pay status on March 18, 2014.

RESOLUTION NO. R -2014-
A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the City Manager to grant a 1% base pay
increase and a one-time lump sum payment of five hundred dollars
($500.00) for all non -represented City employees for calendar year
2014.
WHEREAS, the City Manager met with members of the non -represented
Management Group; and
WHEREAS, after due consideration and research, the City Manager has determined
that avoid compression of management positions and that they have not had a base pay
increase since 2009 to grant a 1% increase to their base pay effective January 1, 2014, and
a one-time lump sum payment of five hundred dollars ($500.00) to each current non -
represented employee employed with the City on March 18, 2014.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager of the City of Yakima is herby authorized to grant a one-time
payment of five hundred dollars ($500.00) and a 1% pay increase for each current non -
represented employee effective January 1, 2014.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 18th day of March 2014.
