DISTRICT RESOLUTION NO. R- 2014 -TBD -5
A RESOLUTION setting the time and place for a public hearing on March 18, 2014 at
6:30 PM in the City of Yakima Council Chambers to hear from the
public to dissolve the Transportation Benefit District.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima created a Transportation Benefit District (TBD) on
February 7, 2012 as authorized by RCW 35.21 225 and governed by the provisions of
Chapter 36.73 RCW; and
WHEREAS, the funding for street repairs was later provided for in a Charter
amendment; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing must be held prior to dissolving the TBD, therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
That dissolving of said Transportation Benefit District shall be presented for hearing
and determination on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the hour of 6:30 p.m. in the Council
Chambers of the City of Yakima, at Yakima City Hall, Yakima, Washington, or as soon
thereafter as the same may be heard, and that notice of such hearing be given as
approved by law.
ADOPTED BY THE TRANSPORTATION BENEFIT DISTRICT this 18 day of
February, 2014.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Transportation Benefit District was created as a mechanism to address maintenance and
repair of City streets.
An amendment to the City Charter was passed in 2013 to address funding street maintenance
and repair. The City Charter amendment nullifies the need for the Transportation Benefit
District. A public hearing is necessary prior to dissolving the Transportation Benefit District.
