R- 2014 -012 A RESOLUTION declaring 7,000 -8,000 pounds of copper wire used by the Yakima Valley Trolley (YVT) as surplus and authorizing the sale of copper wire to Knobel's Electric, a local business WHEREAS, the City of Yakima (City) owns all copper wire located at the YVT yard; and WHEREAS, the copper wire is surplus to the needs of the City's Trolley System; and WHEREAS, the following quotes were obtained to purchase the above -noted copper wire: Chicago Junk Knobel's Electric Delivered by City Will pick -up from YVT Yard Sheathing - Removed by City Sheathing – With/Without $2.45/Ib $3.00 /Ib May Flower Metals Metals Express Delivered by City Will pick -up from YVT Yard Sheathing - Removed by City Sheathing – With/Without $2.45/Ib $2.35/lb Pacific Steel Delivered by City Sheathing – Removed by City $2.45/Ib WHEREAS, Knobel's Electric's had the highest quote to purchase the copper wire at $3.00 a pound; and WHEREAS, Knobel's Electric has also quoted to buy the copper wire with or without the sheathing and to pick up the copper wire from the YVT yard at no additional cost to the City thus eliminating the time and expense of City workers to perform these tasks; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the best interest of the City of Yakima to declare the above -noted copper wire as surplus and to authorize the sale of the copper wire to Knobel's Electric; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Council hereby declares the aforementioned copper wire surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima, and authorizes the sale of the copper wire to Knobel's Electric, a local business, at $3.00 a pound, now, therefore, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 21s day of January, 2014. 1214 5 ATTEST: <; Mayor efii —`) ' Sonya C r Tee, City Clerk y 4 ,� 1 ,fir \ BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL YAKIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEMENT (O No. For Meeting of: 1/21/2014 ITEM TITLE: Resolution declaring 7,000 -8,000 pounds of copper wire used by the Yakima Valley Trolley (YVT) as surplus and authorizing the sale of copper wire to Knobel's Electric, a local business.
