authorizing the City Manager to execute all applicable

SUBMITTED BY: Debbie Cook, Director Utilities and Engineering
David Brown, Water /Irrigation Manager
SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Staff respectfully requests City Council consideration of a resolution declaring the failure of the
300 horse power Kissel Well motor to be an emergency and thereby waiving the formal bid
process to remove and replace the motor.
Although the motor was replaced in 2013, it has failed and must be removed in order to be
repaired. The cost of repair is covered under the motor warranty. The warranty does not
include the cost to remove and reinstall the motor. The cost of removing and reinstalling the
motor is $26,106.96 which is just over the $25,000 limit provided for in the Charter.
