In July of 2010, the City was successful in securing an STP grant of $900,000 for this project. The City's match for this project of $200,000 was received from the Wal-Mart Development Agreement, which gave $200,000 for a pathway along 64th Avenue between Nob Hill Boulevard and Tieton Drive. As part of the project, a 7 -foot wide sidewalk will be constructed on the west side of the road, and the outside lanes will be 14 - foot wide shared bicycle/vehicle lanes. The Local Agency Agreement for this project was executed between the City and WSDOT on November 23, 2010, at which time the preliminary engineering funds were obligated. The Local Agency Agreement Supplement No. 1 was executed on August 22, 2012, which obligated the Right of Way funds. The required Right of Way for this project has been acquired and the Right of Way file has been submitted to the FHWA for certification. This Local Agency Agreement Supplement No. 2 will obligate the construction funds. Once these funds are obligated, the project can be advertised. The project should begin construction in early spring.
