MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Yakima City Council
FR: Sara Bristol, Council member
RE: DYBID Nominating Committee
DT: March 2, 2012
I agreed to meet with members of the DYBID Elections Committee on February 27 to discuss
the process for soliciting applicants for election to the DYBID Advisory Board as well as the
mechanism by which the election would be held.
Below is a summary of the meeting, the application and election process and the timelines for
each.
March 2 -3 Mail postcard to all property owners and business operators assessed by
the DYBID announcing the filing period for consideration as a candidate
for an Advisory Board position and explaining where to find the
application. All candidates for Board consideration must be in good
standing as of February 15, 2012 (all past due assessments must be paid in
full). Applications must be returned by March 21.
March 22 The Elections Committee will meet and review the returned applications.
April 5 Ballots will be sent to all assessed DYBID property owners and business
operators, listing the names of the individuals who are in good standing
with the DYBID and have applied to serve on the Advisory Board. The
ballots must be properly completed and returned by April 20 to be
counted. There will be a signature line on the ballot so we can cross
reference names and signatures with members listed in the DYBID (if
necessary). The top four candidates for Zone 1 will be elected and the top
three candidates for Zone 2 will be elected.
April 23 The Elections Committee will meet and draw for assignment of the
Advisory Board members to specific terms for the successful candidates.
