Randy Beehler - Mayor Micah Cawley - City Clerk Sonya Claar Tee - Asst. Mayor Adkison Mayor Cawley called the meeting to order at 11:15 am. - Election of chair Cawley explained that by action of the City Council on August 6th, Coffey had been appointed to the committee to replace Ettl. Since Ettl was serving as the committee chair, a new chair needed to be elected by the committee. Cawley nominated Coffey as chair and Adkison seconded. Coffey was unanimously elected committee chair. Presentation by ESD 105 /EPIC re: Head Start Executive team members, board members, and staff from Educational Service District 105 ( "ESD 105) and Enterprise for Progress in the Community ( "EPIC ") made a presentation to the committee regarding the history of the partnership between the two organizations in providing Head Start services in the Yakima area. Earlier this year, EPIC, as the primary agency providing Head Start services in the Yakima, forfeited its grant to do so. ESD 105 and EPIC plan to submit an application to be awarded a new grant to provide Head Start services in the Yakima area. The purpose of the presentation to the committee was for ESD 105 and EPIC to solicit a letter of support from the City Council regarding the application by the two organizations to be awarded a new grant to provide Head Start services in the Yakima area. Following the presentation, Cawley thanked the ESD 105 and EPIC representatives for providing information to the committee. Coffey informed the ESD 105 and EPIC representatives that the City Council would be having a discussion soon regarding letters of support in general and the request by ESD 105 and EPIC in specific. Cawley suggested the committee further discuss the letters of support issue at its next meeting and formulate a recommendation to be presented to the full City Council. - City boards, committees, commissions nominations Claar Tee presented the committee with several potential nominees for vacant positions on City boards, committees, and commissions. The committee moved forward several nominations, which will be presented to the full Council for consideration by the City Clerk's office. The meeting was adjourned at 12:36 pm.
