The City Commission met in regular lesion, Mayor Riley and Commissioner Washburn
present on roll call, Commissioner Clark absent.
Moved by Riley, seconded ry Ma.shburn that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday,
August 14th, 1939 be approved as read.: carried, Riley,and Washburn voting aye on roll
call, Clark absent.
Moved by Washburn, seconded by. Riley that the. payroll for the City Street DPna,rtment
In the sum of $1416.79 is hereby approved and the City Clerk authorized to issue war-
rants in payment therefor: carried, Riley and Washburn voting aye on roll- call, Clark
absent..
Moved by Washburn, seconded by Riley tha.t the following claims be allowed and the City
Clerk authorized to issue warrants as follows: Current Expense $1066.68; Park $322.46;
City Street $1566.87; Revolving $464.95; Irrigation $4.00; Crusher $430.06; Fixed Estim-
ate $72.64; Municipal Garage $273.93 and Water $36.87: carried, Riley and Washburn
voting aye on roll call, Clark. absent.
Moved by Riley, seconded by Washburn that the claim of J. J. Vandiver for damages in
the sum of $7.14, alleged to have been sustained to ht automobile by reason of driving
into a hole in the street caused by a broken water pipe in .front of 51 Chicago .Avenue,
on the lst day of August, 1939 is hereby denied: carried, Riley and Washburn voting
a.ye on roll call, Clark absent.
Moved by Washburn, seconded. by Riley that the claim of Ides Land for damages in the
sum of $450.00, alleged to have been sustained by rea.s.on of falling over a plank across
the sidewalk on the east side thereof between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street in the
City of Yakima is hereby denied: , o~rried, Riley and Washburn voting a.ye on roll call,
Clark absent.
-Moved by Washburn,.seconded by Riley that the City Engineer having reported the com-
pletion of the improvement in Local Improvement District No. 547, providing for the
construction of curbs and gutters on Barge and other streets in the City of Yakima,
said improvement is hereby accepted and the City Engineer authorized to prepare an
assessment roll for said district and the City Clerk instructed to give notice of hear-
ing on said roll for Monday, September. 25th, 1939 at ten o' clock A. M.: carried, Riley,
and Washburn voting aye on roll ca.l1, Clark absent. `
Moved by Washburn, seconded by Riley that the City Engineer having reported the com-
pletion pletion of the improvement in Local Improvement District No. 550, providing for the
construction of curbs and gutters at Johnson's Corner and other streets in the City of
Yakima, said improvement is hereby accepted and the City Engineer authorized to pre-
pare an assessment for said district and the City Clerk instructed to give notice of
hearing on said. roll for Monday, September 25th, 1939 at ten o'clock A. ell: carried,
Riley and Washburn voting aye on roll call, Clark absent.
Moved by Washburn, seconded by Riley that this being the time for .receiving bids for
the purchase of a one - -half ton Pick -up Truck for the Water Department; it is hereby
ordered that the bid of the Weber - Chevrolet Company in the sum of $663.00 which was
the only bid submitted, be accepted_ in the above amount: carried, Riley and Washburn
voting aye on roll call, Clark. absent.
Moved by Washburn, seconded by Riley that this being the lime for the hearing on the
assessment roll in Local Improvement District No. 544, providing for the construction
of curbs and gutters in Modern Addition and there being insufficient protest from
property owners abutting coon said. improvement; it is ordered that the ordinance con-
firming the assessment roll and every part thereof be passed as finally read: carried,
Riley and Washburn voting aye on roll call, Clark absent.
ORDINANCE NO. B- 395,entitled., "AN ORDINANCE confirming ,the assessment roll covering
Local Improvement District No. 544, as creates'' and- established by Ordinance No. B -354
of the ordinances of the City of Yakima ", was introduced by Riley and read by the
'City Clerk.
Moved by Washburn, seconded by Riley that Ordinance No. B --�95 be passed to its second
reading; and_ read .by title only: carried., Riley and Washburn voting aye on roll call,

owners abutting upon said proposed improvement; it is ordered that the ordinance creat-
ing a local improvement district, be passed as finally read.: carried, Riley and. Wash-

ORDINANCE NO. B -396, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of property
in the City of Yakima, Washington, by the construction of concrete curbs and gutters;
establishing a local improvement district; providing for the method of payment therefor,
and creating a special fund ", was introduced. by Riley and read by the City Clerk.
