Moved by,Temple, seconded by Washburn that the following claims numbered from 35217 to 35338 in the sum of $12,473.37are hereby allowed and the City Clerk authorizedto issue warrants in payment therefor on the following funds: Current Expense $3983.47; Irriga- tion $308.63; L.I.D. 507 $286.41; Cemetery Trust $286.41; F. R. & P. $385.14 L.I.D. Guaranty $800.00;,Delinquent Property Sales $1498.79; L.I.D. Revolving $145.09; Ceme- tery $295.43; Accident. $20.00; Municipal Garage $273.15; Bond Sinking $4190.85; Claims on the Park Fund-in the sum of $1710.63; City Street Fund $8008.63; Water Dept. $9148.15 Water Deposit Fund $441.00: carried, Temple, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call Moved by Clark, seconded by Washburn that this being the time for the hearing on Reso- lution No..0 -270 providing for the construction of. curbs and gutters on 28th, 30th, 31st and West Yakima Avenue and several property owners appearing and objecting to the type of surface contemplated; it.was ordered that the hearing be postponed to Monday, August 30th, 1937 'at 10 o'clock A. M: carried, Temple, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by.Temple.,.:seconded.by Washburn that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of.a sewer in the Hamberg Tract., Local Improvement District No. 515, the following bids.were.received: D. Coluccio $1924.50 on concrete and $2080.50 on clay; A.. S.. Wil.son.$1916.00 on concrete; J. M. DeBlasio $1757.40 on concrete and .- $2033.40 on.clay; R. Mastro $2180.50 on concrete and $2396.50 on clay; Union Concrete Pipe Co. .$2761.20 on concrete. The Bid of J. M. DeBlasio in the sum of $1757.40 is hereby accepted.as the:loweat and best bid and said contract awarded upon the filing of the proper.bond as provided by law; carried, Temple, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Washburn, seconded by Clark that this being the ~time for receiving bids for the construction.of...a domestic water system on East Chestnut Street in Local Improvement District No. 516, the following bids were received; D. Coluccio $1477.00; A. S. Wilson $1697.05; J: M..DeBlasio $1383.00 and R. Masters: the bid of J. M. DeBlasio in the sum of $1383..00 being the.lowest and best bid, said contract was awarded to him upon the filing-of .the.proper bond as provided by law: carried, Temple, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 1937, 1 P. M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Temple and Commissioners Wash- burn and Clark present on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -2741 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That it is the intention of the City of Yakima to improve under Chapter.187, Laws of 1937,, that portion of Lenox Avenue lying within the corporate limits of Yakima, from the junction of Lenox Avenue and Primary State Highway No. 3 to the east corporate limits, by grading, draining, surfacing and the construction of bituminous surface, and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Yakima that the Direc- tor of Highways do such grading, draining, surfacing, including the placing of bitum- inous surface, on that portion of Lenox Avenue within the corporate limits of the City of Yakima and extending from the junction of Primary State Highway No. 3 to .the east corporate limits, BE IT RESOLVE) that the City of Yakima does hereby acknowledge that it will not satisfactorily accomplish and will delqy and be unable to perform said construction work on Lenox Avenue and hereby waives notice of the Director of Highways thereof; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Highways is request- ed and permitted to perform all said construction work to the amount of Twenty -eight Hundred Dollars ($2800.00), an amount not in excess of the amount of money now credited or reasonably acticipated to accrue to the City of Yakima in the motor vehicle fund during the next fiscal year, said construction costs to be charged against the amount so credited, or to be credited; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon statement of the cost of such construction work and journal voucher therefor, approved by the City of Yakima, for all labor, equipment, materials, supplies and engineering, the State Auditor is authorized and directed to reserve and credit to the Department of Highways in pay- ment for such construction work any funds credited or to be credited to the City of F, 72 Yakima in the motor vehicle fund not to exceed the above specified sum; all in accor- dance with the provisions of Chapter 187, Session Laws of 1937. C -275, A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION AND ASSUMPTION OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT, MAINTENANCEAND OPERA- TION OF AN AIRPORT AS ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE AGRICULTURAL,.COM- MERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES OF THE AREA. WHEREAS,.the Commissioners of Yakima County have recognized the importance of the development of air transportation, airmail and air-express; and WHEREAS, such recognition is exemplified by•the acquisition of land and the development of an airport immediately adjacent to the City of Yakima; and WHEREAS,..the proximity of the airport to the City of Yakima and Its importance to the agricultural, commercial and industrial interests by providing facilities for airmail, air express and transportation has been definitely acknowledg- ed; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima and its immediate area are particu- larly benefited by this development; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima should assume responsibility for the further developmen.t.,..maintenance and operation of said airport as its contribution to the agricultural, commercial and industrial activities of the area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COMMISSION, that the City of Yakima.assume. responsibility for the further development, maintenance and operation of said airport as its contribution to the agricultural, commercial and in- dustrial activities of the improved area. B -235, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE amending Sections 7, 11, 13 and 14, and repealing Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 24,_25, 26 27 and 30 of Ordinance No. A -192, passed and approved.August.28, 1915, and entitled: (AN ORDINANCE relating to local improve- ments in the City of North Yakima and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith., and declaring an emergency ", was introduced by Temple and read by the City Clerk.
