The ,City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and
Clark present on roll call.
The minutes of the regular meeting of Tuesday, June 1, 1948, be approved as read:
Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that the City Engineer having reported the completi
of the improvement in L.I.D. No. 613, for the construction of curbs and gutters on
26th Avenue South, and other streets in the City of Yakima, said work is hereby accept
and the City (Clerk instructed to give notice of,hearing on the assessment roll for
Monday, the 28th day of June, 1948, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark
voting aye on roll call.
Moved by {Clark, seconded by Bishop that the City Engineer having reported the comple-
tion of constructing the Englewood Domestic Water System, L.I.D. 612, said work is
hereby accepted and the CityClerk instructed to give notice of hearing on the assess-
ment roll for Tuesday, the 6th day of July, 1948 at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck,
Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Clark, seconded by Buck that the City Engineer having reported the completion
of the 17th Avenue North Irrigation District L.I.D. No. 622, said work is hereby
accepted and the City {Clerk instructed to give notice of hearing on the assessment
roll of Tuesday, July 6, 1948, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark
voting aye on-roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. ;C -786, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WN:
That it is its intention to improve-Naches Avenue from the
southerly line of East "H" Street to the northerly line of East Race Street by resur-
facing the same with asphaltic concrete, all of said improvement to be constructed in
full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer
and filed with.the City Clerk.
The boundary of the district to be assessed for the above de-
scribed improvement is situate within the -.City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington,
and described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection or the easterly
line of North Naches Avenue and the southerly
line of East "H" Street; thence easterly along
said southerly-line a distance of one hundred
fifty feet; thence southerly and parallel with
the easterly line of Naches Avenue to the north-
erly line of East Race Street; thence westerly
along said northerly line a distance of four
hundred forty feet to a point one hundred fifty
feet west of the westerly line of South Naches
Avenue; thence northerly and parallel with the
westerly line of Naches Avenue to the southerly
line of East "H" Street; thence easterly along
said southerly line to the point of beginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve-
ment, are hereby notified to appear and pr, esent such objections, if any, at a meeting
of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima,
Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of 10 o'clock A.M., on Tuesday, the 6th day of
July, 1948, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters
relating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and-for determining the
method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give
due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The cost and expense of said improvement, including the cost of
acquiring rights of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication, of
notices and all other expenses incident thereto, except 25% thereof to be borne by the
City of Yakima, shall be borne by and assessed against all of the property legally and
properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as above described; and the City
Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City `Commission at or prior to the date
fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other information required by law
to be by him submitted.

RESOLUTION NO. C -7879 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE !CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WN:
That it is its intention to improve Eleventh Avenue in the City
of Yakima from the northerly line of West "A" Street to the northerly line of Division
Street by resurfacing the same with asphaltic concrete, all of said improvement to be
constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the
City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
The boundary of the district to be assessed for the above de-
scribed improvement is situate within the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington,
and described as follows:
Beginning at .the intersection of the easterly
line of Eleventh Avenue North and the southerly
line of Summitview Avenue; thence easterly along
said southerly line to a point one hundred forty
feet east of the easterly line of Eleventh Avenue

North; thence southerly and parallel with the
easterly line of Eleventh Avenue to the northerly
line of Division Street; thence westerly along
said northerly line to a point one hundred forty
feet west of the westerly line of Eleventh Avenue
South; thence northerly and parallel with the
westerly line of Eleventh Avenue to the southerly
line of Summit-View Avenue; thence easterly along
said southerly line to the point of beginning.

RESOLUTION NO. C -788, WHEREAS, there has been included in the budget for the City of
Yakima for the year 1948 items sufficient to authorize the purchase of the automobile
as hereinafter mentioned, and there is difficulty in securing delivery of automobiles
as required by the needs of the 'City, and
WHEREAS, another such automobile is necessary for use by the
police department in connection with the safety and welfare of the City of Yakima,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 'IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
Yakima, Washington, that an emergency exists with reference to the purchase of said
automobile and the Purchasing Agent of the City be and he is hereby authorized to
purchase said automobile in the open market without advertising for bids upon such
terms as will be for the best interests of the City.
The authorization herein given is for the purchase of not more
than one automobile equipped for use by the Police Department at a cost of not to
exceed Seventeen Hundred Dollars (1700.00);
day of June, 1948.

RESOLUTION NO. C-7895 WHEREAS, Yakima Valley Transportation ,Company by letter dated
June 1, 1948 has requested extensions and modifications to the existing passenger
bus routes within the City of Yakima,
AND WHEREAS, such extensions are provided for by Sections 3 and
4 of Ordinance No. B -731,
NOViI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION of the
City of Yakima, Washington, that the request of the Yakima Valley Transportation Compar
be and the same is hereby granted, and an extension of service for passenger bus opera-
tions is hereby modified and extended to include the following; to -wit;
day of June, 1948.
North 4th Street from North Avenue to the present City Limits.
South 10th Street from Race Street to Adams Avenue, west on
Adams Avenue to 9th Street, north on 9th Street to Race Street,
and east on Race Street to 10th Street.
Fairview line on South 6th Street from Adams Avenue to Pacific
Avenue, east on Pacific Avenue to the present route on South
10th Street.'
South 10th Avenue line from its present terminus at South 10th
and Mead Avenues, west on West Mead Avenue to the intersection
with South 16th Avenue, north on South 16th Avenue to West
Lenox Avenue and east on West Lenox Avenue to South 10th Avenue,
the present South 10th Avenue route.

ADJOURNED MEETING, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 91 1948
The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Commissioners Bishop and Clark and
Mayor Buck present on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -790, WHEREAS; Yakima County, a municipal corporation, has offered to
sell and convey unto t he,City of Yakima those premises now owned by said County and
operated by the City under lease as the Yakima Municipal Airport,,for the cash consider-
ation of $45,869.60, and it is believed to be for the best interests of the City of
Yakima to accept said offer and to purchase said premises for use as an airport,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF YAKIMA,
Section 1. That the offer of Yakima,County, Washington, to sell
and convey unto the City of Yakima the premises known as the Yakima Municipal Airport
for the cash consideration of $45,.869.60 be and the same hereby is accepted and the
City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to make such examination of the title
of said property as deemed proper and upon his approval thereof and upon the delivery
of a good and sufficient warranty deed to the whole of said premises that the City
Clerk be and she hereby is authorized and directed to execute in favor of and deliver
to'.6aid Yakima County, Washington, the Cityls warrant for said sum drawn upon the
proper fund of the City of Yakima.
