The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, May 17, 1948, were approved as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -876, repealing Ordinance No. B -871 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 401 entitled: "'AN ORDINANCE providing for the establishement of a free public library in-the City of Yakima, Washington, creating a fund for the maintenance thereof, and providing for the levy and collection of taxes to supply such fund.'" Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that Ordinance No. B -876, repealing Ord. No. B -871 be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, second_ ed by Buck that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. 6-780, for paving the alleys extending from Bell Street to Division St. and be- tween 15th Avenue South and 17th Avenue South and the alley extending from W. Walnut St. to West Spruce St. between 7th Avenue South and 8th Avenue South and there being insufficient objection to said improvement or any part thereof; it is ordered that Ord. No. B -877 creating a local improvement district, be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCCE NO. B -877, providing for the improvement of the alleys extending from Bell Street to Division Street, between Fifteenth Avenue South and Seventeenth Avenue South and the alley extending from West Walnut Street to West Spruce Street, between Seventh Avenue South and Eighth Avenue South, by paving the same with asphaltic concrete two inches thick; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment therefor, and creating a special fund. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that this being the time for receiving bids for a turbine pump for the Fire Dept., the following were received:Howard- Cooper Corp. Series 185,750 G.P.M., Seagraves 15,750.00, Series 5.1000 G.P.M. Seagraves 319,750.00, Series 1000, 1000 G.P.M. Seagraves $16,050.00; General Pacific Corp. Model 100 -G.K. 1000 G.P.M. Pumper $16,746.00, Model 75 -G.K., 750 G.P.M. Pumper $15,306.00; Maxim Motor Co., Model 23510, 1000 G. P. M. Pumper $17,990.00, Model 2417, 750 G.P.M. Pumper $15,350.00. The bid of the Howard- Cooper Co. on a 1000 G.P.M. Seagraves in the sum of $162050.00 was accepted: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that Best ElectricSCo.'is hereby granted an exten- sion of time on their contract for the Traffic Control System for a period of thirty days: carried Buck, Bishop and-,Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that the City Engineer having reported the completio of the Hanratty Drive Curb and Gutter District in L.I.D. No. 623, and filed the asses- sment roll with the City Treasurer; said roll is hereby accepted and the City Clerk in- structed to give notice of hearing on said roll by publication as required by law for Monday, June 21st, 1948,'.,at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and (Clark voting aye on roll call. It was moved by Bishop and,seconded by Buck that the following property be rezoned as a limited business district: Beginning on the south line of East B Street at the alley between 4th Street and Naches Avenue, running thence west to the alley between lst and 2nd Street; thence north along said alley to a.point 100 feet north of the north line of (C Street; thence east to the alley between Second and Third Streets; thence north along said.alley'to the center of D Street; thence east to a point directly north of the place of beginning; thence south to the point of beginning. The above motion, being put to a vote, was lost, Bishop voting "Aye" and Buck and Clark "Noll Thereupon it was moved by Clark and seconded by Buck that the following described area be included as a limited business district, and that the city attorney and the city , engineer be instructed to prepare an ordinance and map in compliance with this motion: Beginning on the south line of B Street at the corner of the alley between 4th Street and Naches Avenue, running-thence west to the alley between lst and 2nd Streets, running thence north along said alley to a point 100 feet nort of the north line of D Street; running thence east to a point immediately north h of the point of beginning; and thence south to the point of beginning. Upon the above motion being put, it was carried, Clark and Buck voting "Aye ", Bishop "No." Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that we do now adjourn: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
