Mayor Buck-absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, May 3rd, 1948, were approved as read. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids for the resurfacing of Surunitview Ave. from 16th Avenue North to the City Limits in L.I.D. No. 633, the following; were received: !Columbia Asphalt Paving Co. $17,003.00 and 'the Lone Pine Paving (Co. $15, 268.00; said bids were taken under advisement; carried Clark and Bishop voting aye on roll callp Mayor Buck absent. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids on surfacing South Grandview Avenue, L.I.D. No. 643, the following were received: Columbia - Asphalt Paving Co. $20,321.37; Lone Pine Paving tCo. x$19,848.78; said bids" were taken under advisement: carried Clark and Bishop voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. - J Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that this being the time for receiving bids for 16 tires 750 x 20• -10 ply; the followin were received: Lovering Tire Co. Goodyear 850.37; Montgomery Ward Hi -Way Tread 9775.71; Commercial Tread $873.93; Bar - Logger 911.34; Fisher's Service, Rayon $778.88; Sarver Tire Service, Fleetway $861.08; Hahn Motor {Co. Pennsylvania Turnpike Premium x$742.37; Tire Sales and Service, Firestone De Luxe $807.85. T he.bid of the Hahn Motor Co. was accepted as the lowest and best bid: carried Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. Moved by Bishop,.s econded by Clark that this being the time for the hearing on the petition for vacation of the South 251 of East 1401 of West 1651 of SE-L .9 NE4, NW-.1j7.9 NEIL-Sec 26 -13 ®18 EWM, action on said petition was postponed indefinitely: carried Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop,. seconded by Clark that.Ordinances authorizing the purchase of equip- ment not budgeted and declaring and emergency for the purchase of a station wagon for the Engineering Dept. in the sum of $2232.49; and for the installation of a new traffic control system in the sum of $27,431.88 and the maintenance and repair of the existing traffic controls in the sure of $5000.00 be laid on the table for one week: carried Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. ORDINANCE NO. B -871, amending Ordinance No. 401 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE providing for the establishment of a free public library in the City of Yakima, Washington; creating a fund for the maintenance thereof, and providing for the levy and collection . of taxes to supply such fund." Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that Ordinance No. B -871 be passed as read: carried Bishop and 'Clark voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on the assessment roll in L.I.D. No. 627, providing for the resurfacing of Yakima Avenue from Naches Avenue to 7th Avenue South and there being no objections in writing or otherwise to said assessment roll or any part thereof: It is ordered that Ordinance No. B -872 confirming said assessment roll and every part thereof be passed as read'; carried Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. ORDINANCE NO. B -872, confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improvement Distri No. 627 as created and established by Ordinance No. B -787 of the Ordinances of the ,City of Yakima. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that Ordinance No. B -872 be passed as read; carried Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. RESOLUTION NO. C -781, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA,WN. That it is its intention to construct an irrigation system to serve the following described property situate in the !City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, to -wit: Beginning at the intersection of 18th Avenue North with the north line of Lot 2, Nob Hill Home Acres; thence easterly along said north line a distance of 131 feet to the west line of Lot 7, Pleasantview Addition; .thence northerly along said west line to Monroe A venue; thence easterly along Monroe Avenue to 16th Avenue North; thence northerly along 16th Avenue North to the North line of Lot 5, Cottage Hill Addition; thence easterly along said north line to the northeast corner of said Lot 5; thence south 23.9 feet; thence southeasterly and easterly to a point on the easterly line of Lot 5, Cot- tage Hill Addition, said point being 131 feet north of the north line of Folsom Avenue; thence southerly along said easterly line of Lot 3 to Folsom Avenue; thence easterly along Folsom Avenue to the easterly line of Lot 9, Cottage Hill Addition; thence southerly along said easterly "line to Browne Avenue; thence easterly along Browne Avenue to 11th. Avenue North; thence south- erly along 11th Avenue North to Summitview Avenue; thence westerly along,Summitview Avenue to Hall Avenue; thence southerly along Hall Avenue to West "Alt Street; thence westerly along West "All Street to a point 100 feet east of 16th Avenue North; thence northerly and parallel with 16th Avenue North to Summitview Avenue; thence westerly along Summitview Avenue to 18th Avenue North; thence northerly along 18th Avenue North to the point of beginning. fl 1 1 1 J 1 1 1 6 y� May 10, 1948 Said improvement to consist of the installation of necessary laterals,- service connec- tions and other appurtenances.for the purpose of delivering water for irrigation pur- poses to each lot within the proposed district described above and to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Eng- ineer and filed with the 'City Clerk, All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improve- ment -are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of the City 'Commission to be held -at its office in the :City Hall in the-City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, at the hour-of 10 o'clock A.M., on Tuesday, the 1st day of June, 1948, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters re- lating to said.proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said hearing and of the-intention to make-the aforesaid improvement. The cost and expense of said improvement,'including the,cost of acquiring right of way easements, engineering, surveying, advertising, publication of notices, and all other expenses incident thereto, shall be borne by and assessed against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as providdd by law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to-submit to the City Commission at or prior'to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other-information required by law to be by him submitted. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that the bid of the Lone Pine Paving Co. in the sum of $15,268.00 for resurfacing Summitview Avenue; L.I.D. No. 633 be accepted as the lowest and best bid and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of theCity of Yakima for doing said work upon the filing of the proper bond as provided by law: carried Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.# Mayor Buck absent.
