HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/26/1948 Business Meeting & 4/27/1948 Adjourned Meetingr April 26, 1948 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and Clark present on roll call. The minutes of the regular meeting'of Monday, April 19, 1948 were approved as read: Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of South Tenth Street, in L.I.D. No. 644, the following were received: J•.M. DeBlasio In the sum of X840.00 and Gallagher and Brandt in the sum of 9784.00; The bid of Gallagher and Brandt was accepted and. the Mayor and (City Clerk authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima for doing said work upon the filing of the proper bond therefor: carried Buck, Bishop and'Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that this being the time for-receiving bids for a 30' Crawler Shovel for the 111ater Department, the following were received: Feenaughty Equipment 'Co., net price $8,630.00; A.H. Cox and (Co., net price $9,813.00; Service Equipment Co. net price $9)619.00: The A.H. Cox and Co, were awarded the bid in the sum of $13,321.65, less a trade -in credit of $3,508.65 for Lorain Shovel and attachments making a total of x;,9,813.00 net bid: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark that: the City ,Clerk-be instructed to advertise for bids for the construc- tion of a ,City Hall in accordance with previous plans and specifications heretofore accepted by the 'City. After discussion the motion declared lost for lack of a second. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the City Commission proceed to negotiate for the purchase of Lots 23 and 24 Block 49 together with the building thereon, said lot cD being immediately north of the Sunshine Mining Co. building on North Second Street: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call. Clark voting no. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -866 creating a local improve- ment district for the construction of resurfacing streets and constructing curbs and gutters in what is known as the "Englewood Curb and Gutter District" be passed as read, and the City Engineer authorized to withhold any further action until the terms of the Guaranty Fund have been met: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting; aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -866, providing for the improvement of property in the 'City of Yakima, Washington, by surfacing streets and constructing concrete curbs and gutters, establish- ing a local improvement district, providing for the method of payment therefor, and creating a special fund. ORDINANCE NO. B- 8671 amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. B -214 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE relating to organization and personnel of the Police Department of the City of Yakima, providing for the appointment of members thereof and repealing Ordinance No. A- 200." Thloved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -867 relating to the personnel of the Police Dept. be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that in passing Ordinance No. B -867, it is understood and agreed that the title of officers set forth in said ordinance shall not be changed during the year 1948: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -868, eliminating Lots 11 to 16 inclusive of Block 49 of the ,City of Yakima, Lots 21 to 24 inclusive of lock 27 of the City of Yakima and Lot 29 Mc`.Crimmons and Needham's Subdivision of Lots 58, 59 and 60 of Kerr's Villa Lots from irrigation maintenance charges of Local Improvement District No. 308. Moved by .Clark, seconded by Buck that Ordinance No. B -868 eliminating certain property in the City of Yakima from irrigation maintenance in L.I.D. No. 308, be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that we do now adjourn to meet Tuesday, April 27, 1948, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call. Clark absent ADJOURNED MEETING TUESDAY, APRIL 27 The City .Cor =mission met pursuant to adjournment, Commissioners Bishop and 'Clark present on roll call. Mayor Buck absent. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids for well drilling testing, Boehler and Huber were the only bidders as follows: Item No. 1- Setting up Equipment 9¢50.00, Item No. 2- Drilling 8" hole, $7.00 per foot, Item No. 3- Furnishing and Installing 8" Drive Shoe IM5.00 per shoe, Item No. 4- Furnishing and installing 8" casing, $4.00.per foot, Item No. 5- Pump testing, 9.50 per hour, other labor @ $7.50 per hour, Item No. 6- Pulling and retaining casing, $1.50 per foot. The above bid was awarded to Boehler and Huber: carried Bishop and :Clark voting aye on roll call. Mayor Buck absent.
