The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, January 5, 1948, were approved as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by .Bishop, seconded by ,Clark that the engineer be instructed to prepare specifi- cations for the 16th Avenue and North Avenue intercepting drain and the west side storm sewer as mentioned in the engineerts report of January 6, 1948, and that the City Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids for such work: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C -7701 WHEREAS, KATHERINE GASKIN, on January 15, 1948, filed with the City !Clerk her duly verified claim for damages in the amount of $250.00, said damages arising out of injuries sustained by said claimant from an alleged fall caused by a dangerous defect in the paved sidewalk at the northwest corner of the intersection of South 3rd Street and Walnut Street in the City of Yakima, said injuries occurring Jan- uary 4, 1948, and it being for the_ best interests of the City of Yakima to allow, pay and settle said claim and to secure from claimant a full and complete release from liability therefor, NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE `CITY OF YAKIMA : That the claim of Katherine Gaskin, a widow, for damages arising out of injuries sustained by her at the northwest corner of the intersection of South 3rd Street and Walnut Street in the City of Yakima on January 4, 1948, be settled by the payment to said claimant of the sum of $250.00, and the !City Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to draw a warrant upon the proper fund of the :City of Yakima in said sum to the order of said claimant in full settlement of said claim and to deliver said warrant to the claimant upon her executing and delivering a full and complete re- lease to the :City of Yakima for said injuries. B -847, amending Section 95 of Ordinance No. A -205, entitled: "AN ORDI- NANCE to provide for the protection and preservation of the public health and providing a penalty for the violation thereof; repealing ordinances numbered 20, 75, 76, 77, 1179 124, 134, 190, 194, 205, 230, 259, 375, 403, 449, 471, 497, 529, 532, 533, 547, 681, 682, 6840 7273 737, 878, A -22, A -30, A -39, A -69 and A -83 and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency ", and declaring an emergency. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -847 be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
