HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/01/1947 Business Meetings December 1, 1947 The City 'Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and Clark present on roll call. The minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, November 24, 1947, were approved as read: Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the payrolls for the month of November, 1947, be approved and the City ,Clerk authorized to issue warrants as follows: Various Depts. $5743.10; Health Dept. $1268.38; Engineering Dept. $2971.19; Police Dept. $10,382.00 Fire Dept. $11,913.33;, Library $1743.10; Irrigation $993.15; F.R.&P. $1997.30; P.R. &P. $395.00; 'Cemetery 230.00; Street 100.00; and Water $7617.73: carried Buck, Bishop and ,Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the following payrolls be allowed and the City Clerk authorized to issue warrants as follows: Cemetery $495.70; Electrical $80.85; Parkin Meters $412.15; Garage $92.40; Street $2646.55; Sanitation $1964.50; and Water 91868.50: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the hearing on Resolution No. rC -760, be continued to Monday, December, 8, 1947, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Clark that this being the time for receiving bids on a Station Wagon, the bid of the Burrows Motor Co., in the sum of $2191.80, which was the only bid received is hereby accepted: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on. roll call. Moved by Bishop, seconded by .Clark that this being the time for receiving bids on the Traffic !Control System by the Electrical Dept; the time for opening.said bid is hereby extended to Monday, December 15, 1947 at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of a sewer on 31st Avenue South L.I.D. No. 641, the following were received Fannan 'Construction !Co., $2863.75 and State Construction Co. $3662.50; Fannan Construc - tion Co.being low bidder contract was awarded to them and the Mayor and City Clerk in- structed to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima upon filing of the proper bond: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of -Curbs and Gutters on 31st Avenue North, Queen Avenue and Swan Avenue, in L.I.D. No's 637,639 & 640, the following bids were received: State Construction Co. $17,940.29; J.M. De:Blasio;$17,673.49; The bid of J.M. DeBlasio being the lowest bid, contract was awarded to him and the Mayor and City Clerk instructed to enter into a contract on behalf of the City of Yakima upon filing of the proper bond therefor: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Bishop, 'seconded by Clark that the City Engineer having filed the Assessment Roll in L.I.D. No, 595, said roll is hereby accepted and the-City Clerk instructed to give notice of hearing on said roll for Monday,. December 22, 1947, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. 1 Moved ,by Clark, seconded by Bishop that the City Engineer having filed the Assessment Roll in L.I.D. No. 635, said roll is hereby accepted and the City Clerk instructed to give notice of hearing on said roll for Monday, December 22, 1947, at 10 o'clock A.M: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the City Clerk is hereby instructed to give no- -tice to contractors for constructing a sewer on the " 27th Avenue South District"; said bids to be received on Monday, December 15, 1947, at 10 o'clock A.M1 carried Buck,_Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call. ORDINANCE NO. B -833., re- establishing in the City Fire Department, the classified posi- tions of Mechanic and,'Electrician; establishing the classified position of Secretary; and establishing the rank of such positions. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -833 be passed as read: carried Buck, Bishop and Clark voting aye on roll call.
