The !City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioner Bishop present
on roll call, Clark absent.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday,
July 14, 1947, be approved as read: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call.
'Clark absent.
Movedby Bishop, seconded by Buck that,this being the time for receiving bids on coal for
the Police, Fire, Library and Warehouse and the bid of the Western Fuel .Company in the
sum of $13.75 per ton being the only laid submitted; It is ordered that said bid be
accepted: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call, Clark absent.
Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the ordinance creating a public emergency for
the purchase of a grader for the Street Department is hereby continued for another week
on account of the absence of Commissioner ,Clark: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye on
roll callp Clark absent.
Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the petition heretofore filed by the Building
Committee of Yakima Pem Lodge No. 353'asking that the area west of South Sixth Street
from East Washington Street to East Lenox Avenue be changed from "B" Residence to, "C"
Residence District is hereby granted: carried Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call.

RESOLUTION NO. tC -741, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WASH.:
That it is its intention to improve East "A" Street from the east
line of North Second Street to the west line of North Naches Avenue by resurfacing the
same with a one inch course of bituminous concrete; all of said improvement to be con-
structed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City
Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
The boundary of the district to be assessed for the above de-
scribed improvement is situate within the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, and
described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the northerly line of
East A Street and the easterly line of North Second Street;
thence northerly along said easterly line a distance of two
hundred feet; thence easterly and parallel with the northerly
line of East A Street to the westerly line of North Naches
Avenue; thence southerly along said westerly line a distance
of four hundred eighty feet to a point two hundred feet
south of the southerly line of East A Street; thence westerly
and parallel with said southerly line to the easterly line of
North Second Street; thence northerly to the point of be-
ginning.
All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objection, if any, at a meeting of the
City Commission to be held at: : -is office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima
County, Washington, at the hour of 10 :00 o'clock A.M., on Monday, the 11th day of
August, 1947, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters re-
lating to said proposed improvement or objections thereto, and for determining the
method of payment for said improvement; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give
due notice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
Thirty per cent of the cost and expense of this improvement, in-
cluding engineering, inspection, advertising, and publication of notices is to be borne
by the City of Yakima, and the balance shall be borne by and assessed against all of
the property legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law and as above
described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the :City 'Commission at
or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other infor-
mation required by law to be by him submitted.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION this 21st day of July, 1947.
