HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/12/1947 Business MeetingMay 12, 1947 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buck and Commissioners Bishop and Clark present on roll call; Moved by -Buck, seconded,by Bishop that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday May 5, 1947, and adjourned meeting thereof, be approved as read: carried, Buck;. Bishop, and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Clark, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for receiving bids for the construction of curbs and gutters_ on. Hanratty Drive, L. I. D. No. 623, the following were received,: J. 11I. DeBlasio3 $964.80; State Construction Co. 943.36. The bid of the State Construction Co. in the sum of $943.36 being the lowest and,.best bid, said award was made to them and the Mayor and City Clerk instructed to enter into a contract on behalf of the-.,City of Yakima for doing said work on receipt of the proper bond: carried, Buck, Bishop, and Clark voting aye on roll call. Resolution No. C -732 WHEREAS, on September 15, 1945, the City of Yakima.. purchased by and for the use of the Department of Public Works of the City of Yakima, one Model 30A Lorain crawler type shovel for the purchase price of $9,000.00 including tax; said purchase being covered by claim number 47249, Warrant number 13471. And WHEREAS, on August 29, 1946, the City of Yakima purchased by and for the Water Department one Insley K -1260 K -12 shovel excavator Serial number K -1775 for the price of $9,657.28 including tax; said purchase being covered by claim T- number 13926, Warrant number .28728, and whereas said excavator was not used by the Water Department b-gt was immediately transferred to and thereafter continuously used by the Department of Public Works for the Street Department of the City of Yakima. And WHEREAS ' the said Lorain shovel was at'�.the time of the trans- fer of the Insley shovel excavator transferred by the Department of Public Works to the Water Department in exchange for the said Insley excavator, and the State Examiner in his examination of the accounts of the Water Department, has raised an objection to the method of purchase and transfer as above set forth, and it is necessary to adjust the record..in the said purchase,and transfer of each of said items of equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CO1riI;IISSION OF THE CI ^1Y OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON: 1. That an emergency is declared to exist and the Department of Public Works of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized to purchase from the Water :Department of the City of Yakima the said Insley excavator described above. Said pur- chase to be made as of August 29, 1946, and the purchase price thereof to be paid to the Water Department of the City of Yakima shall be the sum of $9657.28 to be paid from the Street Department equipment fund. 2. That an, emergency is declared to exist and that the Water Department of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized to purchase from the Department of Public Works of the City of Yakima the said Lorain crawler type shovel described above, said purchase to be made as of August 29, 1946, and the purchase price thereof to be paid to the Department of Public Works, shall be the sum of $9000.00. 'C -733, WHEREAS large areas have been added to the city limits of Yakima in recent months, all of which areas will require improvement work to be done upon the streets; therein, and due to the; inability of the City to maintain -its street equipment at a satisfactory level during the period of the war and immediately thereafter, there is not a sufficient amount of equipment on hand to take care of work which will be abso- lutely necessary in the immediate futures NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON that an emergency exists with reference to the purchase of a tractor and bulldozer, which machinery is required for the Street'Department, the estimated cost of -. said tractor being approximately $5200.00, and the estimated cost of the bulldozer being approximately'�2400.00, and that therefore the purchasing agent be and he is hereby authorized to purchase said tractor and bulldozer in the open market upon such terms as will be to the best interests of the City.
