HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/17/1947 Business MeetingMarch 17, 1947 The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Buc4 and Commissioner Bishop present on roll call, Commissioner Clark absent., Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, March 10th, 1947 and adjourned meeting thereof be: approved as read: carried, Puck and Bishop voting aye on roll call, Clark absent. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the following payrolls be allowed and the City Clerk-authorized to issue warrants as follwos: Street Department $ 2,523.70; Cemetery $$605.00; Parking Meters $158.55; Sanitation $2,065.70;. Health Department ?76.21; Police Department $210.00; Water Department $165.00: carried, Buck and Bishop voting aye.on roll call, Clark absent.; Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck that the.claims on the following funds be allowed and the City Clerk authorized to issue warrants therefor as follows: Current Expense $6,570.22; Street Department $$2,325.75; Library $414.00; Cemetery $5565• L..I. D's $14,792.12; Irrigation $308.54; Water Department $8,347.97; Gas and Oil 42,388.69; P. R._& P.,$78.71: carried, Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call, Clark absent. Moved by Bishop, seconded by Buck-that this being the time for receiving bids for 2,185 feet,of irrigation pipe and the Yakima Cement Products Company being the only bid received said bid was awarded to it as follows; 326 feet of 8 inch T. ,-and G. Pipe 6$.27 per ftm 469 feet; of 12 inch T. and G. Pipe a $$.45 per ft. and 1,390 feet of 27 inch T'. &. G. Pipe ® X2.20 per ft: carried, Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call, Clark absent. Moved by Bishop,aeconded by Buck that this being the time for receiving bids for in- candescent lamps for the City of, Yakima. for the ensuing ,year, and the bid of the M. & M. Electric Company at 3111 Summitview being the only one received, the Mayor and.the City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into a contract on behalf of the-City of Yakima for furnishing said ;merchandise: carried, Buck and Bishop voting aye on roll call, Clark sent. Moved by Buck, seconded by Bishop that this being the time for the hearing on Resolution No. 0-711 providing for the construction of a sidewalk on the south side of West Chestnu Street from South.;5'th Avenue to South 6th Avenue and the west side of 5th Avenue South from West Chestnut Street to a point 100 feet north of West Walnut Street and there be- ing no objections in writing or otherwise to said improvement or any part thereof; it is ordered that the ordinance creating a local improvement district be passed as read: carried, Buck.and Bishop voting aye on roll call, Clark absent. ORDINANCE NO. B -7r6, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of the south side of West Chestnut Street in Yakima, Washington from South Fifth Avenue to South Sixth Avenue, And the west side.of Fifth Avenue South from West Chestnut Street to a point 100 feet north of West Walnut Street therein by constructing a Portland Cement concrete sidewalt six feet in width; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment therefor; and creating a special fund. Moved by•Buck, seconded by Bishop that Ordinance No. B -766 be passed as read: carried, Puck and Bishop voting aye on roll call; Clark absent. RESOLUTION NO. C -719, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: From and after the date hereof it shall be the policy of the City Commission of the City of Yakima to conduct all sales of property belonging to the City of Yakima. in its proprietary capacity only in the manner provided in this resolu- tion. Section 1. All sales of property belonging to the City of Yakim whether real or personal, shall be authorized only by resolution passed by the majority vote of the City Commission. Section 2. No sale of property, real or personal, the value of uihich is in excess of $500.00 shall be made except upon written'bids after due notice of such sale w the general public and call for bids thereon. Section 3.' Notice of any sale provided for herein shall be ..given by publication in the official newspaper of the City of Yakima at least three consecutive issues.. The said notice shall contain a brief description of the property to be sold "and the terms of such sale as set forth in said resolution. The said. notice shall also contain the time up to and including which bids shall be received. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Commission this 17th day of March, 1947.
