ITEM TITLE: Set Date of August 2, 2021 to review the Planning Commission's
Recommendation on the Periodic Update to the Shoreline Master
Program, YMC Title 17

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City received a$28,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology to
complete our required periodic update of the Shoreline Master Program (SMP), YMC Title 17.
On May 26, 2021 the Yakima Planning Commission held an open record public hearing on the
amendments and recommended approval. Per state requirements, the draft SMP was forwarded
to the Department of Ecology(DOE)for an initial determination of concurrence with state law,
which was received on June 22, 2021. The next step in the update process is to formally adopt
the amendments via Ordinance and submit for final DOE approval.
