Moved. by Riley, seconded by Clark that the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, July 22, 1940 be approved as read: carried, Riley and Clark voting aye on roll call, Washburn absent. ?Znved. by Clark, seconded by Riley that the following payrolls be allowed and the City Clerk authorized to issue warrants as follows: Street Dept. $1,166.32; Crusher $481. 62; Cemetery 0161.00; Cemetery Care $426.00; Park $1,009.49; Sanitation $742.75; City Street Mtse. 127.98: carried, Riley and Clark voting aye on roll call, Washburn ab- sent. Moved by Clark, seconded by Riley that the claim of Pearl E. Orr, Administratrix of the estate of Charles H. Orr, deceased, in the sum of $20,000.00 for damages alleged to have been sustained by reason of said Orr while working in a ditch in the 00 block on South 24th Avenue being injured which resulted in his death on June 30, 19�O,'is hereby denied: carried, Riley and Clark voting aye on roll call, Washburn absent. RESOLUTION NO. C -479, BE IT RESOLVED BY-THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON: That it is its intention to improve the alleys running easterly and westerly parallel with West Yakima Avenue in Blocks 230„ 231, 250, 251, 270 and 290, City of Yakima, by grading and paving with a six inch one course pavement 20 feet in width, and by constructing the necessary drainage features, and by doing all such other work in connection therewith as may be necessary.; said improvement to be con- structed in full accordance with the plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer. The boundary of the district to be served by and assessed for the above - described improvement is described as follows, to -wit: Beginning at-the intersection of West Yakima Ave- nue with Second Avenue South, thence southerly along Second Avenue South to West Chestnut Street; thence westerly along West Chestnut Street to Sourth Avenue South; thence northerly along Fourth Avenue South to West Yakima Avenue; thence westerly along West Yakima Avenue to Sixth Avenue North; thence northerly along Sixth Avenue North to West "A" Street; thence easterly along West "A" Street to Second Avenue North; thence southerly along Second Avenue North to point of beginning. All persons who may desire to object of said proposed improve- ment are hereby notified to appear and presnet such objection, if any, at a meeting of the City Commission to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima County, Washington, at the hour of ten o'clock A. M., on Monday, the 19th day of August, 1940, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to said proposed improvement, or objections thereto, and for determining the method of payment therefor; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due not- ice of said hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement. The cost and expense of said improvement shall be borne by and assessed against all of the property legally and properly assessable therefor as pro - bided by law and as above described; and the City Engineer is hereby directed to sub- mit to the City Commission, at or prior to the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other information required by law to be by him submitted. ORDINANCE NO. B -463, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE confirming the assessment roll covering Local Improvement District No. 555, as created and established by Ordinance No. B -400 of the ordinances of the City of Yakima", was introduced by Riley and read,by the City Clerk. Moved by Clark, seconded by Riley that Ordinance No. B -463 be passed to its second reading and read by title only: carried, Riley and Clark voting aye on roll call, Washburn absent. Moved by Clark, seconded by Riley that Ordinance No. B -463 be passed to its third reading and read in full: carried, Riley and Clark voting aye on roll call, Washburn absent. Moved by Clark, seconded by Riley that Ordinance No': B -463 be passed as finally read: carried, Riley and Clark voting aye on roll call, Washburn absent.
