The City Commission met in regular session, Mayor Riley and Commissioners Washburn and
Clark present on roll call.
Moved by Riley, seconded by Washburn that the minutes of thezegular meeting of Monday,
April 22nd, 1940 and adjourned meeting thereof be approved as read: carried, Riley,
Washburn and Clark voting.aye on roll call.
Moved by_Riley, seconded by Clark that this being,.the time for the hearing on Resolu-
tion No. C -470 providing.f or the construction of a pavement in the alley between 15th
and 16th Avenues South from West Chestnut Street to Bell Street, and there being a pro-
test of 50% of the property owners in said district; it is ordered that said improve-
ment be abandoned: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call.
Moved by Riley, seconded by Washburn that this being the time for receiving bids on
3500 sacks of cement at $3.15 per ballel less 10¢ per barrel; it is ordered that said
award be equally divided among the following.bidders: Potlatch Yards, Inc.; Yakima
Cement Products Company;. Helliesen Lumber Company and Fosseen's, Inc.: carried, Riley,
Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call.
RESOLUTION NO. C -473, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON:
That it is its intention to construct pipe sewers, with the
necessary wye branches, manholes, flush tanks and water connections therefor, to serve
the following described district;
Beginning at the intersection of Maclaren Street and
20th Avenue South; thence westerly along the north
line of Lot 1 of Chase Hill Residence Tracts to a point
125 feet west-,of the west line of 20th Avenue South;
thence southerly and parallel with 20th Avenue South -
a distance of 394 feet; thence westerly a distance of
151 feet; thence southerly and parallel with 20th Avenue
South to the south line of the north half of Lot 9,
Chase Hill Residence Tracts; thence easterly along
the south line of the north half of Lot 9 and 10 of
said subdivision to 20th Avenue South; thence sou-
therly along 20th Avenue. South to a po nt 20 feet north
of the south line of the Northwest Quarter of the
Northeast Quarter of Section 26, Township 13 North,
Range 18 E.W.M.; thence easterly to A point 125 feet
east of the easterly line of 20th Avenue South; thence
northerly and parallel with 20th Avenue South to the
southerly right of way line of the Natchez and Cowychee
Ditch; thence in a northwesterly direction along said
right of way line to 20th Avenue South; thence northerly
along 20th Avenue South to the point of beginning;
said improvement to be constructed in full accordance with the plans and specifica-
tions to be -prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk.
.All persons who may desire to object to said proposed improvement
are hereby notified to appear and pressnt such objection, if any, at a meeting of the
City Commission'to be held at its office in the City Hall in the City of Yakima, Yakima
County, Washington, at the hour of ten o'clock A. M., on Monday,.the 20th day of May,
1940, which time and place are hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters related to
said proposed improvement, or objections thereto, and for determining the method of
payment therefor; and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give due notice of said
hearing and of the intention to make the aforesaid improvement.
The labor for this improvement is to be furnished by the Works
Projects Administration, and the balance of the cost and expense, including engineer-
ing, inspection, advertising, publication of notices and all other expenses incident
thereto, shall be levied and assessed against the property included in the district
aobve described, and legally and properly assessable therefor as provided by law; and
the City Engineer is hereby directed to submit to the City Commission at or prior to
the date fixed herein for said hearing, all of the data and other information required
by law to be by him submitted.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION, signed and approved this 29th
day .of April, 1940.

RESOLUTION NO.-C-474, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING the destruction of certain nonessential
records of the Water Department of the City of Yakima.
back to 1926, and WHEREAS, the Water Department has on file certain records dating
WHEREAS, the Water Department does not have sufficient vault
space to store said records together with the necessary records of said department, and
WHEREAS, the records hereby authorized to be destroyed have serv-
ed their purpose and are not essential for the operation of said department. -
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that R. W. White, Auditor of the
said Water Department, be and he is hereby authorized to destroy.the following records
of said Water Department:
Duplicate copies of operating orders 1926 -1939
2sd. copy of deposits 19.26 -1934
Cash slips 1926 -1934
Cash Controls 1926 -1934
