Moved by Riley, seconded by Washburn that the minutes of the regular meeting of Mon- day, April 22, 1940 and adjourned meeting thereof be approved as read: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Washburn, seconded by. Riley._that the f ollowing, payrolls be allowed and the City Clerk authorized to issue warrants as follows: Revolving $479.96; 'Irrigation x$189.60• Cemetery $168000; Cemetery Care $426.00; Crusher $279..38; Park $.516.25; Sani- tation 1849.75 ;, City..Street x$1592..90: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. Moved by Riley., seconded by Washburn that this being the time for -the hearing on Reso- lution No. C -469, providing for an irrigation system on Glen Drive and other streets in the City of Yakima;. it is ordered that said hearing be adjourned for two weeks: carried, Riley,,. Moved by,Clark, seconded by Washburn that the City Engineer having reported the com- pletion of the improvement in Local Improvement District No. 556, said work is hereby accepted and the City Engineer authorized to prepare an assessment roll for said dis- trict and the City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice of hearing on said assess- ment roll for Monday, May 20, 1940 at 10 o'clock A. M: carried, Riley, Washburn and Clark voting aye on roll call. ADJOURNED MEETING, SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 1940, 11 A. M. The City Commission met pursuant to adjournment, Mayor Riley and Commissioners Wash- burn and Clark present on roll call. RESOLUTION NO. C_472,. A RESOLUTION DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUR_ CHASE OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS,-the Sanitation Department of the City of Yakima does not have sufficient equipment to properly maintain the,garbage collection service; and WHEREAS,_certain of the equipment of said department is in need of repairs which will necessitate some time; and WHEREAS, such work will cause the Sanitation Department to fall behind in the schedule of garbage collection. It is deemed necessary to declare an emergency to effect the purchase of an additional truck for the.said Sanitation Depart- ment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that an emergency is hereby de- clared to exist and that the Purchasing Agent of the City of Yakima be authorized to immediately purchase a D -35 International truck from the Rankin Implement Company and a "Garbage Getter" body,, to be mounted on said truck, from the Howard- Cooper Corpora- tion so that the operation of the garbage collection of the City of Yakima may not be impaired.
