CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 30, 2001 - 6:10 A.M.
1. WATERSHED TOUR
1. ROLL CALL
The City Council met in special session on this date at 6:10 a.m. in the City Hall
parking lot to board a van for a tour of the Yakima Basin watershed area.
Present:
Council: Mayor Mary Place, presiding, Council Members Lynn Buchanan,
Larry Mattson, John Puccinelli, and Bernard Sims
Staff: City Attorney Ray Paolella and Water and Irrigation Manager
Dueane Calvin
Absent: Council Members Clarence Barnett (excused) and Henry
Beauchamp (excused)
2. TOUR OF YAKIMA BASIN WATERSHED AREA
The tour departed the Yakima City Hall parking lot and proceeded to the Best
Western Summit Inn for a tour overview. Departing Snoqualmie summit, Council
members viewed Keechelus Dam looking at safety of dam issues, and then went •
to Taneum Creek diversion to look at their screening program. The stop at the
Naches River Water Treatment Plant was cancelled due to slippage in the time
schedule. Following a stop for lunch in Yakima, the tour continued to Black Rock
Reservoir site where parties to that program made a brief presentation, and Sulfur
Creek/Granger Drain where irrigation district personnel made a brief presentation
concern issues with fish passage and habitat.
3. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
