City Attorney Arntson present on roll call. Councilman Robinson absent and attending Bar Examinations in Seattle. The invocation was given by Councilman Barber. The minutes of the regular meeting of July 13, 1960 were approved as read. A resolution transferring the sum of $5,000.00 within the 1960 Budget for the Street Department having been read by the Clerk of the Council, it was MOVED by Burns, seconded by Barber that Resolution No. D -159 providing for said transfer be passed as read: carried, Barber, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson and Oliver voting aye on roll call. Robinson absent. RESOLUTION NO. D -159, A RESOLUTION transferring the sum of $5,000.00 within the 1960 appropria- tion for 31 - Street. WHEREAS, a surplus exists in Account 7 -06, Hourly Employees, of the Salaries classification of the 1960 appropriation for 31 - Street, and WHEREAS, the additional work performed by the Street Department in the rehabilitation of city streets has increased the amount of overtime required, which increase could not have been reasonably contemplated at the time of the adoption of the 1960 appropriatior for 31 - Street, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interests of the people of the City 'of Yakima to make the aforesaid transfer, and the action contemplated herein is author- ized by R. C. W. 35. 33.120," now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. That the sum-of $5,000.00 is hereby transferred from Account 7 -06, Hourly Employees to Account 7 -07 Overtime, all within the 'Salaries classification of the 1960 appropriation for 31 - Street. BOSTIC Mayor A Lease Agreement with the West Coast Airlines having.expired April 17, 1960, it was MOVED by Oliver, seconded by Larson that Resolution No. D -160, providing for the execution of a 5 year Lease Agreement with said West Coast Airlines, Inc., be passed as read: carrried, Barber, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson: -and Oliver voting aye on roll call. Robinson absent. RESOLUTION .No. D -160, A RESOLUTION authorizing the City Manager and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with West Coast Airlines, Inc. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That the .City Manager and City Clerk of the City of Yakima are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a Lease Agreement with West Coast Airlines, Inc., a Washington corporation, for certain property at the Yakima Municipal Airport, a copy of which agreement is hereto attached and by this reference made a part hereof. BOSTIC, Mayor Statewide City Employees Retirement System having notified the City Clerk that Carl Mogren, a Water Department Employee, will reach the extended retirement 'age of 68 by September 1, 1960, it was MOVED by Oliver, seconded by Barber that Resolution No. D -161 providing for the extension of employment for this employee for a period of four months from September 1, 1960 or until January 1, 1961, be passed as read: carried, Barber, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson, and Oliver voting aye on roll call. Robinson absent. RESOLUTION NO. D -161, WHEREAS, .Carl Mogren is an employee of the City of Yakima and under the Statewide City Employees Retirement System, and WHEREAS, the said Carl Mogren will reach the extended retirement age of 68 by September 1, 1960, and WHEREAS, the said Carl Mogren is satisfactorily performing his duties as a city employee and is in good physical condition and health, and it is in the beat interests of the City of Yakima to extend the retirement date of the said Carl Mogren for four months, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED pY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That the retirement date of Carl Mogren, an employee of the City of Yakima, is extended for the period of four months from. BOSTIC, Mayor Statewide City Employees Retirement System having notified the City Clerk that Cecil Purdy, an Irrigation Department Employee, will reach the extended retirement age of 66 by September 1, 1960, it was MOVED by Burns, second ed by Larson that Resolution No. D -162 providing for the ex- tension of employment for said Cecil Purdy for a period of seven months from September 1, 1960, M P 8 JULY 20, 1960 be passed as read: carried, Barber, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson and Oliver voting aye on roll call. Robinson absent. RESOLUTION NO. D -162, WHEREAS, Cecil Purdy is an employee of the City of Yakima and under the Statewide City Employees Retirement System, and WHEREAS, the said Cecil Purdy will reach the extended retirement age of 66 by September 1, 1960, and WHEREAS, the said Cecil Purdy is satisfactorily performing his duties as a city employee and is in good physical condition and health, and it is deemed in the best interests of the City of lakima to extend the retirement date of the said Cecil Purdy for seven months, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That the retirement date of Cecil Purdy, an employee of the City of Yakimai is extended for the period of seven months from September 1, 1960, to -wit: April 1, 196:1. BOSTIC Mayor Mayor Bostic advised the Clerk of the Council that he would be absent from Council meetings for the next two weeks since he was taking his vacation during this time. Manager Allison requesting permission to attend a seminar for City Clerks in Seattle on Monday the 25th day of July, it was MOVED by Barber, seconded by Coombs,that the City Manager be and is hereby authorized to attend said seminar: carried, Barber, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson, and Oliver voting aye by voice vote; Robinson absent. Councilman Coombs asked that a sign be placed on Division and'Tieton Drive directing traffic to the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. No: formal action was taken on this matter. Other matters discussed by the City Manager with the City Council were Petition No. 54 as filed by Pat Roche requesting the vacation of a certain alley, the prorgress of the street repair program, the transfer of a lease on the Gift Shop at the Yakima Municipal Airport from Fred E. Squire to Ray Horn, weedy lots and a overlay on the Airport runway. No formal action was taken by the City Council on these matters. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was MOVED by Larson, seconded by Coombs that we do now adjourn at the hour of 3,:40 p.m.: carried, Barber, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson and Oliver voting aye by voice vote.
