Councilman Barber absent. I . . Invocation was given by Councilman Larson. Minutes of the regular meeting of May 25, 1960 were approved as corrected. A list of surplus equipment owned by the City of Yakima, having been submitted to the City C Council with a request for authority to sell same, it was MOVED by Larson, seconded by Robinson that Resolution No. D -140 authorizing the sale at public auction of said obsolete and junk items, be passed as read: carried, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson, Oliver and Robinson voting aye on roll call. Barber absent. RESOLUTION NO. D -1401 A RESOLUTION authorhing the sale at public auction of obsolete and junk pipe fittings,_equipment and miscellaneous items. WHEREAS, a large number of wood pipe fittings and miscellaneous equipment and parts are owned by the several departments of the City of Yakima and have become obsolete or in such a condition as to be classified as junk and of no further use or value to the City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the City'of Yakima to hold a public auction for the sale to the highest bidder of said items, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA_: Section 1. That all of the items contained in that certain list of wood pipe fittings and miscellaneous equipment 'and parts, which is attached hereto and by this refer- ence made a part hereof, shall be sold at public auction not less than ten days after the public- ation of notice of said public auction sale. Section 2. Notice of said sale shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City of Yakima. Section 3. The City Manager of the City of Yakima is authorized and di- rected to obtain the services of a licensed auctioneer to conduct said sale. Section 4. All of the costs and expenses of said sale, including the 6cost of publication and payment to the auctioneer, shall first be deducted from the monies arising from said sale and applied to the payment thereof. All of the balance of the proceeds of said sale shall be paid into the respective fund or department which owned the fittings, equipment or parts put up at such sale. ATTEST: J. A. Oliver having sustained damages as a result of driving into an open trench on South Fmntl on December 1, 1959 and having duly filed a claim for damages on the 10th day of December 1959 in the amount of $83.07 and the City Manager and City Attorney recommending the payment of said claim, it was MOVED by Burns, seconded by Coombs that Resolution No. D -141 authorizing said payment, be passed as read: carried, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson, Oliver and Robinson voting aye on roll call. Barber absent." RESOLUTION NO. D -141, A RESOLUTION authorizing the payment of $83.07 to Cecil H. Oliver. WHEREAS, on December 1, 1959, Cecil H. Oliver sustained damages as a re- sult of driving into an open trench on South Front Street in the City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, the said Cecil H. Oliver has, within the time specified by law and the City Charter, duly made proper claim against the City for damages as a result of said accident, and WHEREAS the City Council finds that the sum of $83..07 is a reasonable sum to be paid to the said Cecil H. Oliver for such damage, and it is in the best interest of the people of the City of Yakima to make such payment, now, therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Yakima; That the Director of Finance of the City of Yakinja is hereby authorized and directed to pay the sum of.$83.07 to Cecil H. Oliver in full and complete satisfaction of his claim against the City of Yakima upon the execution by the said Cecil H. Richter City Treasurer Manager Allison reporting that 56% of the property owners have signed Petition No. 52 requesting the creating of a local improvement district for the paving of the alley in Block 371, Capitol Addition to North Yakima or the alley in the 300 block between Spruce and Pine and 3rd and lath Avenues, said petition having been duly filed by Val Roller and others, and recommending that this alley be included in the next resolution of intention for paving, it was MOVED by Larson, seconded by Coombs that the City Council concur with the City Manager and project be included in the next resolution of intention for paving: carried, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson,-Oliver and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. This being the anniversary date of the first years operation of the Council Manager form of government in the City of Yakima,'Mayor Bostic extended thanks and appreciation on behalf of the City Council to Manager Allison and his staff for the fine work done in this first year. Mayor Bostic also expressed appreciation to the voting citizens of the City for re- electing Councilmen Coombs, Oliver and Robinson, making it possible for the Council to continue it's plans without interruption. Manager Allison expressed thanks and appreciation to the Council and news media for their cooperation and informed the City Council that he is preparing a summary of the first years ,accomplishments, to be submitted at a later date. There being no further business to come before the Council, it was MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Oliver that we do now adjourn at the hour of 3 :30 P.M.: carried, Bostic, Burns, Coombs, Larson, Oliver and Robinson voting aye by voice vote.
